I have to agree – I have been impressed with Wise Buddah recently (so much so that I’m thinking about ordering a few cuts!) – but the new cuts just sound like a slight variation of all the others offered.
I would expect something quite different from Wise Buddah each time which they I feel like, and am rather surprised they did not deliver. 😯
I do like the Breakfast Cut no 2 though!

Well, it is a resung version of their ‘contemporary cuts’ package, right? I’m not that much of a fan either. But BBC Radio Wales & Radio Zet, on the contrary…

Certainly on Monday morning, it was the IQ Beats production library music they were still using.

March 16, 2006 at 8:55 pm #25736MartinSTheir new news jingle has been on air since some point on Monday. They are still using the ‘old’ traffic bed most of the time though – presumably this is the IQ Beats production bed? (Cheers for mentioning that Spoons – I had always wondered who’d made that).
With regards to how they are being used on air generally….
They seem to be launching in to each new hour with cut2 – however it’s a more of an extended ‘ramp’ version of the donut on the demo, which I would regard as a ‘basic’ donut jingle. It sounds very powerful to be honest as there is time for the presenter to say a few words between between the “Radio Aire” and the “96.3 Radio Aire”.
I’d also regard cut 3 as a ‘basic’ cut, however heard a shotgun version of this at the end of a travel report today. Not sure whether this was provided by Wise Buddah, or whether the station have just edited it and cut a chunk out.
The Leeds accent sweepers are still being used a lot inbetween songs – they sound great too. Leeds accents really do sound good on this sort of thing.

Sounds good although the bed cut off at a strange point during this morning’s 7am bully.

Yeh – the news intro was IQ beats.
Funnily enough, Radio Leeds use it to intro their sport.
We used it first on Real – as our general election coverage news production. It’s a very good library.

February 23, 2008 at 9:59 pm #56887MartinSWith news of some new Wise Buddah cuts for Radio Aire I thought I'd rekindle this thread, rather than hijack the Exeter FM thread, where this was first mentioned at the beginning of the week. By the way Paul – thanks for the additional samples of the Exeter FM cuts on that thread.
It's funny really, a couple of weeks ago I was listening to some Wise Buddah material, including the Contemporary Cuts demo. I always wondered why Radio Aire had never had the Contemporary Cuts 'rock', 'disco' and ‘Top Ten at Ten’ cuts re-sung and started to imagine what they may have sounded like with “96.3 Radio Aire” sung in place of ‘Heart FM’/’Dublins 98FM’. This thought is probably more so relevant now, given that Exeter FM, as a much smaller station seems to have had a more of a full re-sing of the package.
I'd also been thinking that the three (originally Capital I think) breakfast show beds that Hereward FM had may also sound good re-sung for the Simon Logan “Logie” Breakfast show.
From reading the article today on Jinglnews.com, it sounds like the six new Radio Aire cuts that are on the way may be custom? This somewhat dampens my hopes of hearing the reaming Contemporary Cuts jingles / Capital Breakfast beds sung for Radio Aire. I assume all will become clear in the next few weeks.
I just hope they keep the old WB jingles along side the new ones as I've really grown to like them over the past two years, especially the “80s” and “Rock-Pop”. However, it's a shame that they have recently dropped the “80s”/”Dance” cut hybrid (similar to that David B mentions is used top of hour by Cheshire FM on the Exeter thread) as an hour launcher in favour of a 1999 style beat.. beat… beat… bed with a heavily effected a-cappella form the dance cut thrown over at the end! Perhaps it would be good to have a proper Top of the Hour as one of the six!
And…. 2 years later I've never heard that Wise Buddah travel bed used on air! Still the old one that Spoons mentions above To be honest, this probably does sound more appropriate for a thriving city based station – certainly less “AC” sounding than the WB cut.
February 24, 2008 at 12:32 am #56888mark-westfmThis is the jingles that the Q network in northern ireland use.
I think it is a brillant package and suits our stations here in ireland but i dont really thinks it goes with radio aire. -
