PAMS / JAM / Jon Wolfert got a special mention from Tony Blackburn. Pleased to report that JMW was listening live in Dallas at 1am!

There must have been a rethink.
As well as in stereo on iPlayer, the Vintage audio streams are in Stereo too:
AAC 320:

September 30, 2017 at 4:45 pm #102083IainJohnstonHarder to believe its now FIFTY years, when these were provided by JAM for the 15th and 21st birthdays…

https://soundcloud.com/allthebestjingles04a/jamradioone21stbirthdaysong-fullairI’m assuming the Beeb haven’t actually commissioned any actual re-sings at all for the 50th event?
Edit:- also hard to believe I compiled this (mostly) PAMS/JAM through-the-years selection of Radio One
jingles no less than TEN years ago…

Um, have you been listening between the hours?
Also, without detracting ANYTHING from the fun of hearing Tony B this morning… since they played the songs from the original show in order, I wonder why they didn’t match the jingles from the original show too? The PAMS package Radio 1 used in 1967 was a combination of Series 31, 32 and 33. They did play some cuts from 31, but also many from Series 34. The trouble is that those tracks weren’t even cut until 1968. Just a head-scratching moment from a purist

I keep wanting to sing “FM” on 1FM Cut 20 but it’s been re-sung “Vintage”

I am guessing they were all on the screen and Tony just picked them at random. But because he was playing the songs on vinyl he was too busy changing records and queuing them up, he didn’t have enough time to choose a better selection of jingles. Still it was a great programme by Tony B, hopefully now Radio 2 will get some new re-sings for Sounds of the sixties.
September 30, 2017 at 10:06 pm #102089GrahamCollinsAh good anorak value there Jon – never let the facts get in the way of a good jingle story ! From what I recall seeing Radio 2 put 18 various PAMS Radio 1 jingles on the play-out system for Tony to play with.

Yes there was one he played twice mentioning ‘evening’ which seemed strange as it didn’t fit in with the original show or the show today. I think the idea was just to give a flavour of how they would have sounded.

Er, Jon, unfortunately I haven’t been in a position to listen-in today as I would have liked,
I’m depending on “catch-up” later during the week with the BBC iPlayer. But I’ll be only too happy to hear any pleasant surprises :^)
Matt said “…from Series 32 and 33 didn’t get played”
… would I be right in saying that only ONE cut from Series 33 was ever in the original 1967 R1 bundle,
although the 32/33 as a combo was a hugely successful “composite” choice of a great many USA &
Canadian stations back then?October 1, 2017 at 5:31 am #102093gameswizardMember@ JAM / PAMS
Was the jingle from the 1990 package completely re-sung, or just the word vintage added on?October 1, 2017 at 8:14 am #102095upsweepMemberA wonderful weekend – loving Radio 1 Vintage – its full of nostalgia, how radio was supposed to be……..pure magic. The pre 50 year countdown show pure delight…. clips. jingles, music & John Wells counting down the minutes to Launch time.
Already started saving the shows
Modern day Radio should tune in & take a lesson from the past

Yeah I was expecting a few Trella cuts, especially “Let The Good Times Roll” as they certainly have been this weekend! But hey that really is a minor quibble from me too – it all sounds glorious. Lovely to hear PAMS and JAM and indeed JMW getting so many mentions. Very well deserved – the re-sings are top notch as well!
