In the early 70s the jocks at the time sung “tune to radio one” over the bed of the song ” turn your radio on”…I found a copy on a cass thats full of hiss…

Was it a radio one comp to write the words…Cant remember..

I think it was at the time when 247 radio one didnt have any new jingle packages and it was all in house stuff

The song was called “Tune to Radio 1” and was given away as a floppy record with the Radio Times in 1972 to celebrate Radio 1’s 5th birthday. I’ve got a copy but it’s a bit scratchy now, I might be able to clean it up a bit with audition, I’ll give it a try. I’ve looked at length on the internet but as yet I am unable to get a digital copy. For your information the details are: Tune to Radio 1. The Radio 1 DJ’s. Acc: Johnny Arthey and Lois Lane.

Hurrah – at last an upload I can supply!

I was sent a digital copy of this a few years ago. I’m afraid I don’t know where it came from, though.

I’ve posted it in the Radio/TV Themes section of the Downloads. Once it’s verified, you should be able to listen to it there.

It’s not a bad copy, either – there’s a scratch across the disc, by the sound of it, but just sit back and enjoy the snap, crackle and pop!
