MemberThat's a great bed. I remember it well.
Though I was also a fan of “J-J-J-Jambusters” with the Sound Ideas sing.

No probs… on its way… I have found and archive of about 9 hours of Piccadilly bits in the garage, so will sift through and pull out all the interesting bits.

Talking of great traffic music beds, here's one from Metro Radio, UK. There was a spate of bad weather (that makes a change) in the North East of England back in 1986 so Metro put out a travel bulletin. Not sure who did the jingle and this is the only version i have but it is good one all the same and certainly gets your attention.

Inferno,
that`s taken from a package that remains elusive to “Metro jingle fans”. Myself and David Furness have been searching for a dog`s age for that particular package and the Lindisfarne package too.
We have posted the Christmas set of jingles from that package on Jingle Mad and we reckon the package was recorded “in-house” at Metro Radio when they were based at Swalwell. Metro had a large production studio at Longrigg House in Swalwell and often used to record music-sessions/bands etc…
Thanks for posting that Metro traffic jingle – BTW it`s Steve King doing the traffic-news link.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was nice to hear it again and bring it out of the tape rack again. That package also had the best ever rock jingle of all time. I might put some off-air examples on a thread soon. I have some some different ones to yours and David Furness' mix.
By that time, on the travel news mix there, Metro were using the Alfasound sports jingle so it was a gradual phase in i think. I was only in Middlesborough that very wet and windy bank holiday weekend visiting relations so i'm not sure when thay implemented the Alfa package.

As promised, over the weekend I had a dig around for Piccadilly bits.
I have millions of hours of the stuff, unlabelled, uncategorised, insequential and in various states of quality.
Thought I would add a few of the gems uncovered.
I think most of you will have these, but have always liked Piccadilly for its necessity of having a new package every couple of years which is entirely different to the previous one.
Here have some Piccadilly.
Enjoy.
David

The “elusive” package you`re referring to (which used a lot of “drum rolls & fills” at the start of the jingles) was used on-air for nearly two years and you`re correct, Metro subsequently went to Alfasound.
Here`s the News (TOH) cut from the “elusive” Metro package.

Just in case you don`t recognise the presenter, it`s actually Jeremy Vine from Radio 2 & BBC TV. On Metro Radio in the 80`s, he was known as Jerry Vine and did on-air work at Metro at the weekends, whilst a student at Durham University.
