You know, if anyone’s got the “The Music Experience” package from the late 80s, I’d be well impressed and would love them forever.

I got given a dub of them on cassette many years ago, but they’re somewhere in my parent’s loft on an unlabeled cassette.

Quite possibly one of the finest packages ever, and I’m not even sure who made it.

        Ahh, great days.

            Indeed they were Airforce.

            I loved these.

You’ll find the demo of the package here:

There are some CNFM cuts in there too but I don’t think they ever bought the package.

                Bloody hell.

How awful is the 1988 news jingle?

They surely didn’t use that? 😯

The Piccadlly Radio News jingles from Mid to late 80’s were as follows and in the monthage below:-

Sue Manning The Heart of the North West
                    Airforce – The Experience
                    Key 103

The Key 103 News jingles changed within the first couple of months from launch from the instrumental to the one with Steve Coogan voice over. The 88 News cut RJO posted tended to be used during drivetime “I think” at the bottom of the hour. The news programmes in the last year in the run up to Key 103 used a couple of different beds which were produced in house by Sound Ideas.

The first ( Sue Manning) was aired without any talk up by presenters but with the newsreader over the bum bums, The Airforce aired for the main part as an instrumental withouit people talking over it one however some presenters in particular during weekday daytimes did talk over it, usually along the lines of 261, 1152 and 103 this is Piccadilly. I’m not sure that there was a liner re what they should say in the talk up as most presenters seemed to please themselves referring to it as Piccadilly or Piccadilly Radio. The days when radio wasn’t quite so “managed”!!!
Both Key 103 beds were aired without a talk over.

Here’s another TOTH that they used in 1998 when the station was Piccadilly Gold (the voice is Bob Stewart).
