Or what about Chris Elliot?
June 8, 2006 at 3:32 pm #21259Bigdave
Chris Elliott was the name I was looking for..and I couldn’t remember him!
Alan Bardsley’s the voice of many of the early 80’s demos from Alfasound – particularly the first Radio 210 package and the early Chiltern stuff as well…
Even Steve himself voiced some of the demos, until John Wells started doing them in the early 90’s.

MemberPhil Brice (Beacon production director) did an early one I think.
Chris is still around doing radio-related stuff in darkest Suffolk/Essex, I think.

If anyone could ID him that would be great – I think hes got a great voice.

MemberHmmmm. That’s neither Chris Elliott nor Phil Brice.

Sounds like the wonderful Chris Kay to me.
Perfect voice for those cheesy Oh Oh Oh Santa Claus vos, and a very nice guy to boot (not that I would boot a man of his age of course)…….Brilliant!!!

Sound Ideas was Pete Baker’s (ex Piccadilly jocks) company.
Can you remember their BRMB cuts too? Yet another company to use Butty, however!

Dave,
have you got any airchecks of the Sound Ideas BRMB jingles ?
If you have, don`t mind “hosting” them on my Streamload account for everyone to hear.

They’re actually on one of the Megatron demos that they did – but I can’t remember which one!
Let me dig them out for you…and I’ll pop them on a CD for you,as I’ve accidently wiped the Mix 100 cuts!!!

If anyone could ID him that would be great – I think hes got a great voice.I couldn’t agree more, MB. Nick Coady and Steve England’s voices have similarities but I’m sure it isn’t them. It might be Chris Kay!

Yup, I think you`re right Pete, having listened to the audio again, it isn`t him, sorry for the confusion.
I`ll stick with “sung jingles” in the future, hopeless with these ruddy liners !June 9, 2006 at 11:37 am #21282UKJingles

He is/was* (*delete where appropriate*) my second favourite UK voiceover (just behind the legendary Bill Mitchell)
Getting back to the original thread…
Was that the voice you meant xtralargeanorak ?
If so Alanj wins! πJune 9, 2006 at 12:06 pm #21287Barras

Well, Pete Alan J is very close. Alan Bardsley’s voice is so similar to the one in the following link which belongs to Devaweb’s suggestion, Christopher Kay:
June 9, 2006 at 1:16 pm #21289UKJingles
MemberIts got to be Alan Bardsley…as he introduced (and featured) on most of
the early ALFASOUND TAPETRIX Demos and did the liners for Piccadilly and several of the other ILR stations at the time! -
