      Ello,

      Quick question.

What package was Pennine Radio using in May 1985?

      And has anyone got it?

      Cheers!

If my memory serves me , it was Pennine 2 ( I think) from Alfasound. YRN1 came the end of the year after…

It’s here if you want to download it …

http://66.199.241.106/~jinglear/audio/alfasound/Pennine2.mp3 – that’s the link to it via Mr H’s fine site !

          Cheers fella!

Is suspected it might still be Pennine 2. Couldn’t think when YRN1 came in.

Pennine radio 2 was used on air from about October 1984. ‘Like a breath of fresh air / Britains best local radio station’ bit was introduced in Dec of the same year. YRN1- Jimmy Helms (Pennine presenters name checks in the day time only ) ran along side it from about Feb 1987. ish The rest of the package was used at night on the then Pennine Hallam and Viking YRNetwork, the programmes coming from Hull. (It must be said not many cuts in this package got much air play at night) Pennine 2 was last used on air in May 1988. After this YRN2 was used. This lasted about a year, upto the FM/AM split in May/June 1989. Viking Gold had been on air about 6 months prior to the frequency changes with those PAMS jingles, which had west coast singers, if I remember right. Never liked em. I’ve done this from memory, at 01:20 am so forgive me if Im a month out here or there. Its also my first post. Regards. The whisperer of Bawtry. [/u]

Should have added this to the last post but on the same topic, before YRN1 came along, from about Jan/Feb 1986 the newly formed company of Pennine and Viking ONLY. (YRN) used (after 19:30 till midnight) the backing tracks from the ‘Viking Cath Baxter’ (Cawood) package, with added voice overs by a then Radio Aire DJ called Jay Jackson. Radio hallam came into the frame about a year later> There were some sung jingles later made with viking and pennine (only) on them, but these came with the new 1986 viking package. At this time programmes were coming from Forster Square. Ive tried to make this as acurate as poss, its from memory. Hope this helps someone. whisper.
