Maybe someone can add to the story with the linked jingle below ?
According to the Radio 1 jingle delivery lists, the master reference reel containing Paul McKenna’s resing of Hot Kiss #14 has gone missing…..
This is the only trace of it I have:

Can anyone help with a less ropey aircheck or suggest where else to look ?
Appreciate any help or leads.
Best

April 27, 2016 at 9:51 pm #99974RobinBlamiresThat was the exact audio I sent to Jon Wolfert when asking for a resing of that same cut.
Came in useful, though he may be the only one with it at hand.
April 27, 2016 at 11:20 pm #99975PKMemberPaul himself very likey might have his own good quality copy and of any probable mix outs? Mr McKenna is still rather an anorak and jingle geek on the quiet. There is a McKenna In The Morning version too!
That jingle originally first appeared on the radio over here back in 1983 as a custom resing on Radio Nova in Dublin when it was a 50 kw AM & FM pirate station (even on Long Wave 254 kHz as well for a short time!).
The Nova version was always used out of the news. Most versions had sung jock names at the start, the Hot Hits version used if the DJ didn’t has his or her own version.
Chris Carey had versions of the same jingle resung and used out of the news for Buzz FM Birmingham when he owned that station in the early 90s.
I recollect Paul McKenna using the acapella of his TM McKenna In The Morning jingle from Chiltern & Northants Radio a couple of times on Radio 1 but got told off for playing it!! He used the same jingle on Capital Radio too!

It’s a great cut. Did JAM actually do a batch of sung cuts for the Radio Nova DJs at the time?, as many weren’t consistent.
I recall Tony McKenize had a nicely sung version. Colm Hayes was sung differently. John O’Hara & Paul Cavanagh names were spoken in a deep voice over the cut. I also remember the Hot Hits version.April 28, 2016 at 6:40 pm #99982IanMemberI too have an off air clip.
I’ve been after this in the clear for years without successhttps://jennyarnold.myknowhowcloud.com/item/6f8d023a4fc04eac89a1c7565109f7b3
April 28, 2016 at 6:47 pm #99983IanMemberI raised this in 2005 on Jinglemad and according to one member he also had a morning verson sung as well.
You can see that thread here

April 28, 2016 at 7:21 pm #99985GrahamCollinsThanks chaps – I’m also curious as to why he did not receive a re-sing of one of the custom tracks available from the 1990 R1 package…. It just seems an odd choice to throw an old KIIS jingle into the mix Maybe Jon will enlighten us
April 28, 2016 at 8:20 pm #99986gameswizardMemberAlas, the cut was the same as the one Graham posted.
I did find the Nova cuts mentioned earlier… link below.
By the way, I asked this years ago, but I’m still looking for a HQ stereo copy of the First National on the hour sponsor jingle…

Then there’s the missing Steve Wright reel with re-sings of Music Now #13 #20 and #22
April 28, 2016 at 10:47 pm #99988GrahamCollinsHi Mark
Thanks for the aircheck. Very interesting about Steve Wright. I know the Boiling Oil reel that was listed as missing in action has now turned up safe and well but these must be the Sunday to Thursday show bits and pieces – got any airchecks of these ?

April 29, 2016 at 12:21 am #99990PKMemberAhh sadly the two main people who could give I guess the background to this Cut being used on Radio Nova Dublin are ver sadly no longer with us
Maverick Nova owner Chris Carey also Nova wizard Head of Production and Radio Caroline ‘Leg-End’ Tony Allan!!!It was Tony who remastered the Jingles that ended up on the Radio Nova CD back in 1989 at the Camberley satellite service studios which I visited, meeting both Chris and Tony.
Tony did most of the Voice Over work on the Nova JAM jingles (DJ Names, Slogans etc), though Chris Carey himself voiced some of the Top Of The Hour idents as he also did at Birimingham’s Buzz FM.
I guess as DJ’s came and went after the package was sung and on air, if they didn’t have a sung jingle ready to use over the JAM one, in most cases they got a Tony Allan voice over. As for all the different sung melodies of the jock cuts, one person who might have an idea possibly is Tony McKenzie?
Tony Allan did use a mix without the Radio Nova tag of this jingle a few times on the Radio Caroline satellite service back in the days when it was still at the Maidstone TV Studios.
Tony Allan was such a clever and very funny radio production genius, both at Radio Nova in Dublin and on the Camberley satellite station as well. Along with Radio Nova’s head of news, the late Bob Gallico, Tony produced so many funny sketches, commercials, promos and even funny sung comedy jingles.
I’m sure manhy people remember the sung advert Tony did in the mid 80’s for the Blackpool based “Anoraks UK” magazine that was aired on so many radio stations across the UK, Ireland and Europe at the time.
Other cuts from that KIIS FM Radio Nova package that ended up on Radio One, “The Sound Of Europe” was resung for Paul Gambaccini as “American Top 40” and “Playing Favourites, All Weekend Long” became a “Stereo Sequence” cut for Johnny Walker.
Some of that package was later resung for various UK ILR stations as well.. GEM AM had some of the Energy 103 cuts resung.
Great jingles that would still sound great if used today and are still used now on American and Canadian radio stations!!!

April 29, 2016 at 10:13 am #99993GrahamCollinsDoes anyone have airchecks of Steve Wright using re-worded versions of Music Now cuts #13, #20 & #22 that did not appear in the main package ? The Sunday to Thursday cut is actually MN#11.
There certainly does appear to be a reel missing from Johnny Beerling’s list, dated October 1983, described as ‘Steve Wright on Sunday’……

Forget #13 it’s actually #17 but just to clarify with the audio, these are the three cuts in order from the master log sheet from October 1983 BBC#17 BBC#20 & BBC#22. From the Music Now demo it’s MN#10 “There’s always a lot more stuff” MN#2 “Steve Wright on a Sunday afternoon” & MN#11 “Sunday to Thursday Steve Wright” I think that’s right

May 1, 2016 at 10:53 am #100010DuncanNewmarchMemberSlightly off topic, that “pow pow pow power” John Wells VO at the start of Graham’s audio. I was in Adrian Juste’s garage on Friday (I hang out in all the best places) and noticed a keyboard- the musical kind rather than one attached to a PC. Thinking that Adrian was learning to play music I asked why he had it and he said “I made the 2 million watts sweeper on that”, along with all of his perfectly mixed sweeps “Adrian, Adrian, Adrian, Adrian… Ju-Ju-Ju-Ju-Juste”. Not a razor blade in sight. I wasted many hours editing a speeded up “Dun” to a slightly slower “Dun” and again “Dun” one more “Dun” and now at normal speed “Duncan” together. Great fun!
May 1, 2016 at 11:23 am #100012GrahamCollinsA ‘sampling’ keyboard and a very quick finger ! So now we know. Good story.
May 1, 2016 at 11:59 am #100013DuncanNewmarchMemberUnfortunately he can’t power it up anymore. I didn’t ask which other sweeps he made. There was a “Non-stop music, music, music… Radio 1 FM” and a wonderful year stager “Radio 1 FM (orchestral hit) 1987!”- were they made in the pit at Egton and does anyone have a good copy?
May 2, 2016 at 5:47 pm #100023IanMemberDuncan,
Do you mean the year jingles done in this style?https://jennyarnold.myknowhowcloud.com/item/5870667c25584e1c8341d9f796054454
