More PAMS tracks on youtube. Ron Sedaille on WDRC, Hartford, Connecticut. He plays more jingles than songs.
December 7, 2009 at 11:01 am #71438bossjockMemberFantastic!! That's how it should be done!
December 7, 2009 at 2:01 pm #71439BarrasThanks Tom for posting the WDRC link…
Great use of JAM-PAMS jingles – I like any radio personality/DJ who play more jingles on-the-air
December 7, 2009 at 3:15 pm #71440tyty21that's how we do it!

December 7, 2009 at 10:09 pm #71454NigeGreat video. I love watching top jocks doing their shows and pulling it together………especially when it's full of great jingles. Nobody's doing that over here.
December 7, 2009 at 10:22 pm #71455barrydavidallanbdabut in the uk..it would just be Group presenters pushing the next button..We dont have presenters that gel on air like that these days .. Moyles is the only one that can do it…Because the BBC lets him..
In the uk ILR they would have sales person in the studio …
December 7, 2009 at 10:49 pm #71456ratnobMemberSuperb aircheck – a guy who makes radio infectious (in a good way!), unexpected … and fun! Well discovered!
December 7, 2009 at 11:15 pm #71457Harry.TLove the clips like it has been said that's how it should be done would make you want to tune in AAA+

This man REALLY knows his stuff ~ a truly polished panel operator, lively voice, with a great ear for mixing (including dropping his accapella namecheck over anything !My favourite part was the 'Elephant in a Swimming pool cut' (as we used to call it on GEM-AM…)
'Won't you cum on in, the Music's Fine..'
Well done Ron S. !!
December 8, 2009 at 2:46 pm #71469IainJohnstonMemberGood Grief! – “timewarp radio” – I had to double-check that it was just a few days old and not 40 years!
Even with all the 21st-century technology around him it shows that the true “Art of the Deejay” still exists – the skill of being able to technically “self-drive” everything plus to be able to “link” entertainingly without actually having anything to actually talk about!
(…and not a breath of any US equivalent of “X-Factor”, “Celebrity…Get…” or other mind-numbing dross).Just pure simple “performance” – excellent!
December 8, 2009 at 7:31 pm #71475davidrspencer01Fantastic. The presentation style reminds me of the 66-WNBC time machine weekends in New York in the late 1980's with Dan Taylor, Jim Collins etc. I think JAM made the jingles but they were incredibly like the PAMS WABC jingles of the 1960s.
December 8, 2009 at 7:46 pm #71477barrydavidallanbdaCousin Matty on radio city in the 1990's was like this ..he took USA style radio and put it on ILR early evening and it did sound great…bit overkill at times.. but great to view in the studio
December 8, 2009 at 11:53 pm #71483NigeMatty was just a local lad who put on a mid-Atlantic accent but it worked. I caught up with him years later as a lecturer in London but lost touch again. I always wanted to get a hold of his jingles but never did.
January 20, 2010 at 1:07 am #72186ZaxxMemberDoes anyone have any PAMS WDRC jingles that they could post?
The latest YouTube videos are getting better and better, now in HD.
January 20, 2010 at 6:52 am #72188barrydavidallanbdaNige….Re ;Matty a lecturer in London…In media studies????
January 20, 2010 at 7:30 pm #72195NigeYes, I think it was Media Studies or summat similar.
January 20, 2010 at 7:35 pm #72196NigeMust mention a big thanks for posting this link, I've been a regular listener to Ron now because I think the show and jingles are great.

Some old WDRC jingles – Station edits – dubbed from station carts – 1988

January 22, 2010 at 9:16 pm #72224scotronMemberI have to say, I was enthralled watching this guy working. Loved it when the camera came round and we could see the hardware he was driving. As an old school DJ who was brought up on vinyl records, slip mats, Nab A Revox tape machine, jingle cart machines and the odd reel to reel tape insert. Had no idea what was happening…… Well maybe a little bit……But the speed of the operation and the sheer excitement of the show is fantastic. Recording phone ins between music and then putting them out and blending it seemlessly with the live portion was brilliant. Don't think my brain could function at that speed…It's like radio used to be and will be again I'm sure. There are lots of videos of this guy on You Tube. Loved it.
January 22, 2010 at 11:13 pm #72226NigeEverything is great about this show…….
the music, the presentation and the jingles.Elsewhere I've read about how older presenters are considered too old to be on the radio doing what they used to do and how there are those of us who view radio through 'rose tinted glasses' but this proves that it works.
The jingles are the best and there are even songs being played on this show that I've never heard of.
It's the old with the new (namely technology) and it's being used the way it should be.The presentation is superb, this is what we want from radio, to be uplifted from our humdrum lifestyles by a piece of media that makes us feel good. It's true entertainment.
Why can't we have this in the UK?
It doesn't necessarily have to be the hyper American presentation but many stations here can't think for themselves and simply copy what happens in the US…….so why don't we have this?Ron Sedaille is a true artist earning his pay by really working at what he does rather than reading liner cards in-between pre-selected music and keeping links to a set limit.
Personality radio……….horror of horrors.
I hope we can hear more of this sort of radio in the future.
