April 1, 2018 at 6:13 pm #102737mbMemberI don’t do these very often – I was going to do the usual but here a tribute to a station with great imaging through the years from several jingle producers
not a JAM, TM or Reelworld jingle in there !!!April 1, 2018 at 7:16 pm #102738IainJohnstonMichael, that 4th last one (?)……………utterly defies description!

The Airforce package was pretty decent.
https://soundcloud.com/plaza261/piccadilly-radio-ids-1986-airforceThere doesn’t seem to be a high quality version of it anywhere though.
Even the copy I got (from David Barras) was pretty poor quality.April 2, 2018 at 9:42 am #102743IainJohnstonThe only copies I’ve got of the Piccadilly Airforce “Experience” are poor MP3s;
one is the demo, and the rest are montages of varying lengths, and one with tiny gaps between the cuts.Reflects the era of reel-to-reel stuff being “digitally saved” not to full-spec WAV but gungy MP3 :^[

I’m not so sure.
Take both Red Rose Radio’s and Viking Radio’s debut packages – both of them exist in excellent quality. They were well before Piccadilly Airforce.Someone, somewhere will have a studio quality copy of it…
April 3, 2018 at 12:23 am #102749mbMemberIt might be longer than a minute but I forgot I’d made this – Loving the variations !
https://soundcloud.com/michaelboltona/beacontelephoneApril 3, 2018 at 2:53 am #102750DevawebMemberRegarding the “Experience” package from Piccadilly – somewhere in my basement I have a cassette with the full package including mixouts. I also have quite a few Sound Ideas packages with mixouts, including Benny Brown, “Classic Rock Radio” and Key 103 / Piccadilly 1152. Finding the right cassette might take some time though…!
In my youth I would often go to Piccadilly Plaza to beg stickers, merch etc, and the team at Sound Ideas would generously dub me audio from time to time (they had a separate office in the same office block). I’ve no doubt that their generosity, and my fascination of the different mixouts, contributed to my love of this crazy genre of music we all adore. Especially as, to my ideas, there was something fresh and exciting in the Sound Ideas vocals that I’d never heard before. So different to what Alfasound and the US companies were doing.
Oh, and I’m writing this in Dallas, and have been enjoying hearing lots of jingles on air in the city – on more stations than I ever recall. Good times for the 5 second melodies!
April 16, 2018 at 11:17 pm #102820mbMemberOK it’s more than a minute but I just refound this and it’s fun to listen to:-
