Which I.D.s presently on air do you recomend for a listen around the UK?
Im about to do a months travel and want to know if there are any gems out there worth listening to. Please let me know, particularly those smaller stations!
July 11, 2003 at 8:49 am #23337davewi take it that you will be taking a mini disc or tape recorder with you to gather some of those gems
July 11, 2003 at 9:46 am #23338stacey_harrisWhere are you going? Or does your route depend on what stations we mention here??!
July 11, 2003 at 11:11 am #23339Martyn-MI wont be going to Northern Ireland (but there are locations on the west coast of the mainland where you can pick up certain stations) otherwise pretty much the whole country.
Its a photography trip so theres quite a bit of time in Scotland. Cant wait to have another 5 minutes listening time to Lochbroom FM, even if there are no I.D.s!
Hurry though, Im off next Friday!
July 12, 2003 at 8:59 am #23340SpoonsLincs FM have some interesting IDs.
Try going there!
LOL!
Sorry, I’m taking the piss!
Seriously, I still love the Heart (Birmingham) stuff. Great news intro (unless they use the badly edited Ed James at Breakfast version).

“Hits and Memories (s/fx “phone ring”) Lincs FM!”
July 15, 2003 at 11:33 am #23348Martyn-Mso lets get this right…… stay at home and listen to Lincs FM (Compass has better I. D.s in my opinion) or go to Birmingham?
Is this really all there is to offer at the moment?
July 16, 2003 at 1:54 am #23351MartinSSome of my faves at moment in Yorkshire and the North West (I never get much further 😥 )
105.4 Century FM (IQ Beats)
Radio City (Vibe MI)
Key 103 (mainly Reelworld)
106 – 108 Real Radio Yorkshire (Bespoke Music Company)
Hallam FM (Reelworld)
Minster FM / Huddersfield’s Home 107.9 (Bespoke Music Company)Martin
July 16, 2003 at 8:18 pm #23354Martyn-MOnce again, Real Yorkshire and Hallam are easily accessible here and Ive heard most of the others. Thanks anyway, I’ll just have to hunt and hope as usual!
July 16, 2003 at 11:17 pm #23355mbMemberThe new Hallam FM Reelworld jingles are fantastic – The Reelworld Z100 package is really excellent and certainly snapping at the feet of the classic JAM Z100 stuff.
The Steve England / JAM Saga stuff features some truly beautiful tracks and its nice to hear different styles of music reflected as in the old JAM Radio 2 packages.
I have to admit that the IQ beats LBC sung idents are growing on me and as they develope the package its nice to hear cuts like nate night with Clive Bull.August 1, 2003 at 10:22 am #23379stoopukClyde 1 (Vibe)
August 1, 2003 at 3:27 pm #23380Westy1BBC Three Counties Radio has a show on Saturday and Sunday lunchtime called The Ern and Vern Show. They seem to only use Jam jingles which is weird as the rest of the station uses Vibe I think. They sound good though.

Ern and Vern use JAM and I think they have some TM Century stuff as well. AFAIK they don’t mention the station name – they are just for the two of them. Vibe did do the general (non-sung) jingles for the station.
August 3, 2003 at 8:07 pm #23383Westy1Yes I’ve heard Ern and Vern playing a flintstones image song which I’m sure I’ve heard on a TM demo CD. I’ve never heard any other TM stuff though. The JAM stuff they play includes some KOST stuff, It’s Nice, old Radio 2 stuff and I’m sure there’s one jingle they play from one of the Magic packages. It makes a nice difference because I don’t know of any other station, certainly in my area, that uses any Jam stuff.
I might try and e-mail them to see if I can get a dub of it all.

Or as we say around these parts,
‘From the Humber, to the Fish Docks…. 24 hour radio for Grimsby, this is Lincs FM’!
August 16, 2003 at 6:35 pm #23391MartinSWas in Cardiff earlier in the week… the current Red Dragon FM top of the hour is the best one they’ve had in ages!
I assume its a re-sing from this one from the Capital FM ’03 Groove Addicts package though (http://www.groovejingles.com/Html/formats/chr/capitalfm/3/CAPITAL03-cut02tohofhour.rm).
Nice to hear the regional accent in part of the voiceover too. Would be good to hear more like this across the UK.

August 29, 2003 at 11:57 am #23397InfernoHi everyone!
I’m new to this forum and i must say how much i’m learning from you all. It’s also nice to be with people who love jingles!
I do like the current BRMB package. It’s quite inventive. Does anyone who did them?August 29, 2003 at 12:14 pm #23398InfernoMy mistake. Just seen on the BRMB thread that they were done by Groove Addicts! Does’nt sound like them but good anyway.
The current BBC Radio Derby and Radio Stoke packages ain’t bad either. I certainly don’t know who did these ones! :September 17, 2003 at 10:12 pm #23402Martyn-MThis years trip was rather dissapointing in the jingles field. Plenty of ZIP ZAP sweepers out there and lots of similar sounding Vibe stuff (especially in central Scotland) and the BBC locals are not sounding as good as they once did (with one or two exceptions)
Dont get me wrong, Vibes stuff sounds good enough, it was the variety I was seeking!
There were a few gems (one or two of these are now accessable via Sky anyway) and the other good stuff has been mentioned elsewhere within this site.
All in all a good mix tape of stuff from years gone by would of sufficed (didnt someone else here suggest this as a good thing to produce for long trips?)
The same few tracks rotated over and over and over again on the “pop” and “dance” stations became a little annoying too. It was good to get back to Compassland for something different!
Still, the photos look good – as if you care!
