Am I the only one who has heard new jingles on Radio 2 today ?!
Ken Bruce and Steve Wright played them.I heard 3 whilst at work and have got them back via the radio player.There may have been more.
News and travel and original 1997 cuts are still being played so it must be a top up.
Sounds like Groove Addicts to me but any further info from people in the know would be appreciated !

There are several.
It's a mini mini presenter top up.
They are made by Groove. I know that for sure.
I'm not sure which ones have aired so I'll not mention them all just in case, but they sound fab.

I like the melody line and production of BBC Radio 2 cuts, but do the guitar-rock ramps really fit with artists like Stevie Wonder? Hmmm I Wonder…

Hopefully the latter, lets face it Groove Addicts are not exactly quick at up-dating their web site

At one spell, back in the days when JAM was on the BBC, they had (seemed to have) new packages every 2 years or so ('76, '78, '80, '82, '84 etc…)
But 13 year old jingles? How very, very sad.

I agree with MarcMannetje regarding the jingle into Stevie Wonder, but I guess that's down to Ken Bruce NOT selecting the cut to match the song (he's been in radio long enough to know better lol), it sadly happens alot these days with Presenters not thinking things through, I heard a fast cut going into OMD's “Joan of Arc” on a station the other day, shocking!

Not sure if they come from Groove as they don't seem quite as “polished” as previous stuff, the music and vocal mix sound a little muddy to me, but that could be down to the fact they were lifted from the stream.

The musical incongruity of going from that frankly AWFUL 'rock' style jingle into the Stevie Wonder song makes me wonder if ANYONE at Radio 2 honestly CARES about all the things radio knew and did so well 25-35 years ago, such as flow and blend between jingles and music!?

Actually I should qualify my anser, there are some Groove and some Wise Buddah.
I can't remember which were which when I heard them all. I know three are groove at least.

I've always said Ken Bruce doesn't make any concession for the music that plays out of the news breaks. His running order says play ident XYZ at 11:02 and that's what he does, every day without fail. The whole imaging of Radio 2 is on auto-pilot.

I'd wager I could predict what jingle is played on Radio 2 and when on any weekday across a 24-hour period! I might get the playout times wrong a bit for Steve Wright and Chris Evans but you know what I'm saying……

Steve Wright played some of the older Groove Addicts jingles on Fridays show. I guess there are only half a dozen new ones made. Unless there is a whole package made and the station seems to not airing them like some stations do.

You're spot on – Radio 2 playlist jingles just like their bland music format all day long (no pun intended given my surname!).

It is auto pilot so much so, that if I start mindlessly mumbling “How do you like your eggs in the morning?” after Chris Evan's awful TOH 8am cut whilst getting ready for work, my wife wants to start kicking me.

Michael Ball played a new one today. The one he played had a voiceover (which I have attached), but I've also edited it together with the generic version of the same jingle which Steve Wright played last week to give a fully sung version (also attached)!

Nice to hear some of the Mayo cuts in full on that as well.

Does anyone know if there are any presenter cuts other than the ones on the Groove site? Janice [Long] and Michael [Ball] are the only 2 I've heard on air.

Well spotted. Aren't they dreadful? I listened to the Janice Long cut 3 times thinking there was a new DJ on the station – Kevin Sloane. Oh dear.

Good grief! … you're right…does sound like “Kevin Sloane!” And the Graham Norton one is poor too.

Some nice backing tracks though – spoilt by atrocious pronounciation – maybe the next ones would actually be better sung in Milan! (…ouch!)
