I was having a listen yesterday to the Music4 jingles which are pretty damn amazing and beautifully produced. They’ve been on the air now for a number of years building on the first package. It’s sad to see the logo melody change as I always found it very soothing but with the national move I guess they had to do something about the 105.4. I did really like the way “magic” was sung on the music 4 cuts.
I remember as Melody the application and format actually stated no jingles and AFAIR the Music 4 jingles were the first to air and brought in over time. I think for a while they just had the news jingle. With the national Middle ground hotting up with Smooth, Heart and Magic you can feel they’ve changed the tone a little a bit more upbeat, a bit more punchy. I think each jingle package got progressively more “confident” in mood. The last major Music 4 package was in 2011 and had some nice soft and upbeat cuts.
Nice to se that there will be more cuts added. Its funny but the national versions remind me a lot of Sue Manning packages where there was always a strong instrumental logo after the station name its what made Capital, Piccadilly, Red Rose jingles very memorable. It was especially strong on Piccadilly.
