The 2022 KOST package from Reelworld is out. I must say, I wasn’t a big fan of their screamy synthesized KOST packages until this one. They are more melodic, with a better variety in instrumentation and styles and even the vocalists sound more relaxed:-)

Loose cuts (check out the ramp versions for a good impression of the musical styles):

February 10, 2022 at 11:06 pm #107189rakMemberThe TOH is nice, and you can’t beat a city’s name being sung. The playlist, though. Apart from The Weeknd, Dua Lipa and Coldplay the jingles must be the only music worth listening to. (Ducks for cover…)

Which is to say, they’re pleasant enough and fit the format well. Not much else to say.

Cuts 6 (with the whistling guy/girl), cut 7 (almost Red Hot Chilli Peppers/Under The Bridge), cut 8 ( Firefly-synth), cut 9 (Maroon 5ish) are truly diverse. Theme 11 has a brightness I didn’t here before. And the vocals are less screamy.

This is how KOST defines the sound of Modern AC. Can’t say it’s a glow up, but it does give them a more soft feel for these jingle packs, much like RFM and The Breeze did. Also, I noticed that KOST is becoming more and more upbeat (but also sometimes soft) over the past few years. So it’s appropriate that Reelworld is adapting the recent sounds of AC for this KOST package update.

Good point. Maybe it was their reference list. Better sounding modern between old songs than sounding too old between currents and recurrents, someone once told me at a European NAB.

I just like that group better, and I wish that they had the option.
February 13, 2022 at 12:50 pm #107204martinlesterMemberWell interesting Demo , certainly changed a lot since the JAM days
I am surprised that Reelword can get away with ripping off the Sonic Logo that has already been used by TM Studios on several of the current packages that are in the TM Studios libraryFebruary 13, 2022 at 1:46 pm #107205TigerQ105MemberMarcMannetje;c-76674 wrote:WAVA;c-76671 wrote:mjb1124;c-76667 wrote:and fit the format well. They fit the format but the demo posted above is a mix of currents and recurrents only. Well, honestly, KOST still does play some songs from the ’80s and ’90s, but now they play mostly songs from the 2K to now. So I think Reelworld is doing a good thing about adapting that sound to fit KOST better.

I am surprised that Reelword can get away with ripping off the Sonic Logo that has already been used by TM Studios on several of the current packages that are in the TM Studios libraryThis logo actually originated with Reelworld, it’s a slight variation of the main one from the KVIL 2012 package, which KOST had before starting with the customs. TM even referred to it as the “KOST” logo on their previous updating EVO service.
What surprised me was that KOST changed their logo from the one used in the JAM days, yet their old logo melody was later for the Star Radio/Sunny 99.1 Reelworld package. I suppose KOST might have wanted a clean break from their old jingle sound though.
In any event, companies “ripping off” each other’s logos is hardly anything new.

A lot of logo melodies are derivates of some basic notes (WLS > KIIS FM for example) and there are a lot of Kiss packages by a lot of production companies world wide these days.
You might even say our railway station announcement logo (in The Netherlands, Europe, since dirt was new) seems to sound a lot like the original Z100 logo

Tuffie, the voice actor, has left the (station) building.

Thanks for posting.
As an (ageing) jingle fan I enjoy listening to the evolution of IDs and the music they serve.
It’s also what JingleMad is for.
Thanks again.
