I think -maybe hope- it’s a cycle. That soon some stations discover that local content, real personalities and creative freedom really do the trick in getting a relation with your listeners and having an emotional bond with them.
We’ve discussed this before: one package that was created from scratch for 100 stations does not have the uniqueness, the multi layered musical personality any station needs. If you compose and arrange from the start with 50 sonic logos in mind, you never get the detailed taylor made DNA of any station – and listeners will hear that.
July 11, 2022 at 11:24 pm #107782mjb1124MemberPretty much every station from the Big 3 US radio companies (iHeart, Audacy, and Cumulus) feels very corporate, predictable, and samey. This is in terms of the playlists, imaging, branding, and even often the on-air DJ lineups. No doubt that there is still great talent working for all of those companies, but they’re spread way too thin and often are limited by the directives of the higher-ups.
That said, I still think this is a pretty good sounding package. And this is coming from someone who isn’t the biggest fan of Reelworld in general, and especially not a fan of their prior Classic Hits packages (or of Classic Hits stations using their older CHR or AC packages).
July 12, 2022 at 1:23 am #107784ntcarver0MemberAgreed. I happen to like these cuts. They didn’t grow on me like the K-Hits Chicago package, either; caught my ear the first time they popped up in my SoundCloud Weekly playlist (I tend to listen to SC more than I peruse this forum).

It’s simply “iHeart Custom” now. Part of iHeart’s National Programming Group…which pays my mortgage

They do great packages with full orchestras for stations as the Irisch RTE Radio 1 and NRK P1 in Norway. Better written, better sung, more melodic, more emotional.
That’s because they make these packages with one unique station in mind. European stations don’t like ‘of the rack’. They invest. Our market is not as money driven as the US market seems to be…
July 12, 2022 at 10:11 pm #107787mjb1124MemberI have indeed liked a lot of the output from the European wing, and do agree that there seems to be more room for creativity and uniqueness on European radio in general.

The Boom package shotguns are used all day, and full jingles usually played over the weekends and early mornings/nights. The new RW package started getting played in late September/early October 2021 on KGOR as well.
During Christmas, there were much longer cuts of the RW package used during live remotes at area businesses that I wish I was able to get recordings of. It was just the jingle, but then the underlying instumentals on a loop.
Weekends you’ll hear the full Boom jingles in the mornings and evenings, especially during Casey Kasem American Top 40 reruns that they air.
The RW package is interspersed through the whole day, and is mostly used during the Martha Quinn Show, and has started to be used during John Tesh within the last few weeks.

Do you perchance have a copy of it? 🤔

I agree 100%. When I got the Free 99 jingles from Reelworld, I made sure that his vocal group was the one on the jingles because of what your statement says!
