MemberI'm back in Los Angeles in April and can't wait to hear the new JAM package in glorious FM whilst driving around in a Mustang convertible!
Thanks for the update Bryan.
Cheers, Paul

Hello Brian from Afghanistan! Who is the female voice you are all using for imaging?
March 3, 2011 at 1:44 am #78010Bryan Simmons
Hello from LA! That would be Ann DeWig. Here's a link to her site. http://www.anndewig.com/

MemberLooks like they must have finally lost the rights to the ReelWorld jingles, as they are now using old JAM cuts for the top of the hour (again) and weather breaks. Interestingly, in both cases they're using general music beds/ramps, with no sung legal ID's or references to weather. I guess they had to go with whatever the higher-ups would allow. But it's good to finally have 100% JAM on KOST again.

Miss DeWig is Kbay's imaging too!

I know recording sessions were scheduled for february/march. How are things, is the new imaging on air already? I heard a JAM TOTH but it may be from another package.
Thanks!

MemberJAM reported as saying they are currently “very busy” with work for “big clients” – so thats good to hear!

Yes the sessions were a few weeks ago. I can tell you that the air staff is very excited about the coming package! At the moment we are all JAM once again using select cuts from older JAM packages for the Top of Hour Station ID and weather intro as well as the newer JAM cuts we've had since last year. Feels like Christmas is coming and we'll unwrap our present soon. Only in this instance Santa is really from Dallas.

Thanks for the update Bryan and now that we've found a way to listen to KOST live here in the UK the anticpation is high
Play 'em to death !

Thanks Bryan for the update. Big ClientS means at least one other big station or name – great to hear!
Meanwhile, what's happening with BBC Radio 2, is there any news about which company can create the new sound of the most listened to radiostation in the UK?

Had KOST on in the background today – here's a severely 'scoped hour for all those who love their JAM.
I don't recognise the upbeat short IDs but the Top of Hour ramp is a reduced brass mix of Consistently Coast, cut 4, lovely stuff.
Enjoy:

Got it now – the other cuts are various edits and mixes of Up2Date cuts 2, 4, 7 and 8. So good they sound like customs – the logo is virtually identical. Can you tell I'm killing a few days at home

MemberNews from Bryan that the new JAM cuts have arrived at the station and were being previewed today. He says to expect them on air sometime this week …
April 13, 2011 at 2:24 pm #78507LenGroat
The new cuts seem to have a subtle increase in male singers/ male register in the vocal mix, with a slightly more incisive 'bite' as they sing the words.
They are totally CLEAR and legible, unlike th 'new boys in town' who add farrr tooo muchhhh echoooo !
I like the sound, it's a timeless variation, but different enough to the smoother, slightly warmer, old KOST style.

MemberInteresting. I got the impression from BS that they wouldn't hit the airwaves quite yet ..

MemberI was listening for a bit, and the only thing I heard that might have been new was the traffic sounder. It had an instrumental JAM-style KOST logo at the beginning, whereas before they were using something more generic. But they were still using the Consistently Coast cut at the TOH.

I would guess Len is hearing the Up2Date resings, not the new package.

Okay, we received our new package Wednesday and our imaging director is in the process of dubbing them into our system. I can tell you that the new jingles have started to air on our night-time “Lovesongs” show and the rest will be phased in by this coming Tuesday 4/19. I have heard the package and it sounds great! Different from what JAM usually does in a few ways with regard to harmonies and instrumentation, but I am so pleased to have these new JAM jingles. They are a 1000% improvement over the product we were using. The KEZK Up2date re-sings will continue to be used as we haven't had those on for that long a time and the older JAM cuts that we were using as a stopgap until the new package arrived will be retired. The staff is just over the moon to have these new sings! Jon and his crew at JAM did another great job for us and we know that it was a rough month or so for them and they really came through for us.
Have a great weekend, Bryan

Just being curious but does JAM still deliver their station jingles by CD ? – there are several jingle companies out there that transfer stuff digitally by internet i.e. create a “secure” download link for station imaging directors to download packages and cuts, just wondered how KOST got their jingles delivered ? thanks again….

I am very curious Bryan thank you for the update!
The KEZK resings I really liked too, they sound fresh and uptempo. The arrangements are wonderful.
Are the new KOST-cuts in the same style as KEZK? More guitar-driven, harder drums, less brass, more solo vocals?
Enjoy the next week, listeners will appreciate it, I am shure.
Cheers!

David, in answer to your question, JAM gives you the option of downloading your jingles, which we did, however we still took delivery of CD's for this package, they got here the day after the jingles were made available on-line.
Marc, I would say that these are different quite a bit from the KEZK jingles. They have less instrumentation, at least that was my quick impression, since I haven't heard the whole package, I can't really give you much of a comparison. The biggest difference seems to be the way they were sung and in the instrumentation. The tracks I've heard so far have less instruments being used, but knowing the preferences of one of our managers we may be using mix-outs that are stripped down a bit.
Again, Jon and the people at JAM did a wonderful job! I'm quite happy, but I do miss my old name jingle!

I always love the stereo left-right K-O-S-T vocals… Thanks for posting that Dave!
