I was just over at jingles.com and discovered a new demo. Its called Fresh N.Y. for WWFS.
Pretty nice I think.
March 19, 2008 at 9:21 am #57710rakMemberThanks for posting that info Jeremiah. I think that's the sound that BBC Radio 2 and Jam should use as a springboard to work on a new JAM custom package for Radio 2. It's nearly 10 years since we heard JAM on R2, and the 'Fresh' sound on that demo would really work now, esp the ramp cuts which are nicely orchestrated.
March 19, 2008 at 1:13 pm #57711BarrasYou`re a bit behind guys, the demo was mentioned last week in this post…

March 19, 2008 at 9:20 pm #57730jkubiakYeah I should actually go out more lol. I do like that new package tho.
March 19, 2008 at 11:04 pm #57734LenGroatI have to say that Fresh 102.7 is both a SUPERB package and a superb demo.
The jingles are memorable (instantly!) beautifully crafted, light but solid, and I do not think there is a single dud cut in the package.
It should not leave any one in doubt that JAM is still the top company – and hopefully it signals the beginning of an an end to those screechy jingles with the high note at the end that are indistinguishable regardless of which company made them.
After all the 'hip talk', and programing people following 'jingle fashion' blindly, the fact is that it's taken Jon and JAM to produce a new direction. THANK GOODNESS.
Now, which BRITISH station is going to be sensible, lead the way, and get in first to buy the package?! I hope it's NOT Radio 2, the package would be wasted on its awful mish mash of presenter styles.
Well done Jon & Team !
March 26, 2008 at 11:17 am #57887LenGroatI can't stop listening to this demo.
In its way it's as good as Do it Again, and with the superb WABC NewsTalk package JAM have excelled themselves in the last year despite the 'hecklers' who use jingles from the thumpthumpmumblemumble jingle companies.
March 26, 2008 at 3:39 pm #57891GlennaMemberThis is the good stuff!!!
March 26, 2008 at 6:13 pm #57892mumossI absolutely adore JAM's stuff – they really are the best in the business… but I'm not really that keen on this demo. And this is coming from someone who likes JAM's recent stuff – 'Top News' is one of my favourite jingle packages ever.
It's certainly *professional*, and objectively a million times better than companies that churn out the same jingle 20 times a package… but I don't love it. It doesn't reach deep into my soul and make me smile, like a really good jingle package. Why that is, I don't know. Maybe it's just me!
Having said that, I wish Radio 2 *would* buy it – anything would be better than the tired sound they have now.
March 27, 2008 at 1:36 am #57909mjb1124MemberI can understand what you're getting at. These jingles will never hit me the same way as classic jingles like Positron and Warp Factor, or modern packages that recapture that sound like Home of the Hits and Top News. But I understand that JAM has to keep up with the times. They've come through with a package that sounds, well, fresh, while still boasting the quality production, strong vocals, and instantly memorable melodies that they're renowned for.

As a fan of the seven-voice big classic JAM sound,”Fresh N.Y.” will never be my favorite package. However, Jon and company should be commended for being able to adapt to the needs of programmers without sacrificing quality music, quality vocals, and quality production. Too many other companies, IMHO, are one-trick ponies.
The folks on Parkdale Drive have demonstrated they can do it all with consistently high standards. That is why they've been around for almost 34 years.
bcoz
March 27, 2008 at 5:08 am #57911945KBAYguyDont get me started again
March 27, 2008 at 6:20 am #57912GlennaMemberAnd will be around for years to come.
May 8, 2008 at 12:05 am #59139mumossI have to say, it's beginning to grow on me, I think!
May 8, 2008 at 12:43 am #59142topcatUhhh… and in case you haven't noticed, “Home of the Hits” (WCBS-FM) demo is also up at the JAM site.
May 11, 2008 at 2:23 pm #59248RjMI noticed this week that JAM seem to be experimenting with demoing on a flash based cut-by-cut basis, as well as the traditional demo.

May 11, 2008 at 8:31 pm #59263mjb1124MemberWell hey, this is what the “hip” jingle companies have been doing. And those are definitely the two hottest JAM packages right now. Hopefully this will be another step towards a JAM resurgence!
May 12, 2008 at 4:58 am #59270GlennaMemberYeah I saw it last week.
But didn't know to describe it so…..May 12, 2008 at 11:31 pm #59307GlennaMemberAlso; Home of the hits is also being done by the flash method.
Along with Fresh. -
