Linden: YeS!
“There’s more Jingles (jingles)
Very Soo-oon (Very Soo-oon)
We got them from ~ PAMS and JAM
Because they make the Best ~ Jin-gles! “October 3, 2014 at 3:23 pm #95935LenGroatWell spotted Linden!
Now, a “little something for the weekend”. I treated myself to a PAMS cut in this package.
Not one of their best packages, the originals sound rather casually sung – but the FX open is perfect out of any fade record, it has EnErGy, Jon wrote some different vocal parts for the front overlap, + (I guess) a Glenni ‘whoooo’ in the middle!
October 6, 2014 at 12:04 pm #95969LenGroatOne of our dj’s has done some further edits from the many supplied by Jon and came up with a unique 1960s mix. I also thought it was topical with the large response to the Sonovox topic. As they say in the USA, Enjoy!

October 14, 2014 at 8:33 pm #96010IainJohnstonAwww! Magic! You’ve kept THAT one well under wraps Len!
Doub-le You Nnnn Beee Ceee, Ray-di-o Six-ty Six lives onAnd superbly performed to re-create the original vocal sound of the excellent 1970/71/72 TM Productions custom as near as dammit! One of the very best MOR efforts of the original TM Productions era.
I know that the tape master reels have been well-looked after, so if these have now been fully digitized by “today’s TM” for re-sing, then it would be a pleasure to hear more of the cuts re-lyric’ed for on-air oldies stations or even Personal Cuts.
For those not old enough to know the package from the first time around (I have a 7.5 IPS dub sent to me from WNBC back in September 1971 when it was on-air, even though the “demos” split the bundle into “70” and “72”), here’s a quick re-gurgitate of my 2009 JM montages of them.

Design “72”:- (and Len’s cut is at about 1:40)

Well, well. First time I’ve heard ‘Design 72’. Great package; lovely resing. Thanks, both.
October 15, 2014 at 2:47 pm #96014UKJinglesMemberWell I’ve listened to both those Demo’s Iain and can’t find my custom cut on there……
I’m sure it was Design ’70 that had the cut that went (well at least sounded like)
“Pete Wilson on WNBC” )October 15, 2014 at 6:39 pm #96015professor1036This is going to surprise a few people!?

A fantastic choice of jingle and resung brilliantly! Thanks for sharing
October 16, 2014 at 8:47 pm #96017UKJinglesMemberThis is the cut I meant from Image ’72…………Are they singing “Pete, Big or Mick”
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloudOctober 17, 2014 at 11:14 am #96018mjb1124MemberI heard “Big Wilson” immediately when I listened to the cut, and a quick search confirms there was a WNBC presenter by that name. But it’s always fun to imagine hearing your name in a jingle!
October 17, 2014 at 11:36 am #96019IainJohnstonHard lines Pete!
You don’t get a freebie personal cut (You can read about the said DJ here…

You don’t get a freebie personal cut (Oh well it was the closest I got to having a free Jingle..
Unfortunately neither The former governor of California or the BBC Radio Gloucestershire DJ have ever had sung jingles………..Or have they?!?October 25, 2014 at 12:46 pm #96074LenGroatThanks for the comments on our Design ’72 cut + the package demos.
The TM style then seemed very “Burt Bacharach meets the 5th Dimension/ producer Bones Howe”. You can compare/contrast it to the PAMS ‘Solid Rock’, ‘Philly Story’ and ‘Smilin Thru’ packages that were roughly ontemporary with it. And of course within 2 years… ‘Along Came JAM’!
Here’s another surprise from our ‘Autumn’ package. As well as the melodic/ visually lyriced cuts we need short, sharp but still melodic jingles for our 70s and 80s music on Solid Gold GEM AM. I LOVE it – the unusual mix of the girl’s voices.
https://soundcloud.com/len-groat/jam-playin-favorites-4-for-solid-gold-gem-am
I first ‘found it’ on a demo for a UK station (a Friday night party cut I think?) and then the WMJC demo version, only later did I remember it was also, ‘National Radio One, Where U Toon to FM , For All Our favrite Muu-sic”!
What I find most amazing is it is TWENTY EIGHT years old -yet still sounds fresh and ‘works’ well to lead into songs.
October 25, 2014 at 8:17 pm #96075Jeffrey T. MasonMemberThat’s my fave cut from that package! (Playin Favorites’ Cut #4) I’ve just never come up with a good set of lyrics for Jeffro Radio. It’s somewhere on the horizon…
Len, I always love the stuff you post. SO passionate! Don’t let the naysayers get you down.
October 25, 2014 at 8:26 pm #96077simon_t123Member… “Jeff-ro radio … we can’t think what else to sayyyy” might work
Great resing Len, is this a sub-mix / female only mix ? whichever it’s resulted in an interesting vocal sound, Solid Gold GEM.AM must have more jingles to choose from than any other station … anywhere !!!
October 25, 2014 at 9:26 pm #96078gameswizardMember‘National Radio One, Where U Toon to FM , For All Our favrite Muu-sic”!
“Stereo Radio 1… are you tuned to FM… for all your favourite music” is how I remember it.
Regardless, it’s a smashin’ cut
I just went to the JAM demo download page to see if Playin’ Favorites’ WMJC demo was listed. And it is… but unfortunately not for listening to
How come, like 19 others, it is “CALL”?
October 25, 2014 at 9:47 pm #96080IainJohnstonFrom the (excellent) JAM Oldies Vol 1 CD, track 12…
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloudThe original demo of Len’s cut is at circa 2:18
Various other cuts will also “sound familiar”, especially down East Anglia way.. Mellow 1557
Len’s more female-slanted vocal version is perhaps closer to the WMJC “sound” – I guess that the Radio One version we’re more familiar with went with the specific vocal group composition that JAM chose for the overall Radio One package that year, regardless of which package any individual cuts came from in making up the composite?
October 25, 2014 at 9:47 pm #96081DuncanNewmarchMemberWonderful lyrics, I really like it. Always reminds me of the trails Adrian Juste voiced before Radio 1 switched to FM
October 25, 2014 at 10:25 pm #96082gameswizardMemberFrom the (excellent) JAM Oldies Vol 1 CD, track 12…
Thanks Iain
October 26, 2014 at 8:43 am #96083IainJohnstonYou’re welcome GW
Possibly some of the kinds of “Oldies” packages that appear on e.g. that particular CD may get less promotion now as there’s far fewer US stations running such formats, as their target audiences “age out from the advertising world’s desired demographic”, as they say on the New York Radio Bulletin Board (50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s music being increasingly dropped, with even WCBS-FM no longer classed as “Oldies” but “Classic Hits”).
Regardless of that, so many JAM cuts are entirely “timeless” they can STILL “fit in”
October 26, 2014 at 5:07 pm #96088LenGroatJeffrey T. – delighted with your kind comments – your cavalcade of inventive tight fun lyrics leaves me standing – I can’t be so adventurous as I’m a (conservative) English dj But, we DO have a humourous one in our December order for one dj on our station.
Simon – I asked for the female dominant vocal sound off the WMJC, as I LOVE the way Kaye (?) sounds on lead, and they got it 100% ! I’d forgotten the Radio 1 version, but prefer the warmer WMJC style which makes the cut ‘work’ with 60s and 70s oldies.
Games Wizard – thanks for the lyric correction – my memory
Duncan – thanks.
Iain – thanks for the audio!
There’s one more cut to come…
October 27, 2014 at 10:06 am #96098RobinBlamiresThat’s a rather nifty resing. Almost forgot Radio 2 had a a resing of cut 7A from “Playing Favourites” in 1986.
November 5, 2014 at 7:02 pm #96152LenGroatFor those of you wondering what else might be in our ‘Autumn’ jingle package ~ something that needs NO introduction! We are using it as an ‘on the hour’ ident for weekends as we don’t carry news every hour and needed something strong and brassy! Plus it was on various UK ‘ILR’s’ in the 90s and will be nostalgic for their (former) listeners!
https://soundcloud.com/len-groat/synchronism-cut-8-for-solid-gold-gem-am
By the way, today is our SECOND anniversary of Solid Gold Gem AM – two years and NO commercials. And our 18 strong on-air team being joined by 3 new dj’s – who were on County Sound Gold, Radio Sovereign, Radio Mercury, The Eagle, Gem-AM, Moorlands Radio, Beacon Radio, High Peak Radio, Oak FM and Amber Sound….
And some of our team have ‘goodies’ being recorded at JAM very soon
November 5, 2014 at 8:03 pm #96153radio_blokeMemberNow that’s what I call a true classic!
Nice Job!November 5, 2014 at 10:10 pm #96154Sean MartinMemberNews or not, one thing is guaranteed – the SGGAM top-of-hour will be a Tom Merriman moment. That’s classic!
Perfect choice.
