Yesterday, on a Facebook memories group for the city of Portsmouth (UK), a thread was started about the local commercial station Radio Victory which launched in 1975 and closed in 1986.

One person commented saying

“…and who can ever forget that jingle..Listen to Andy..Mr Ferrissssss.”

a jingle not heard on the airwaves in the city for decades.

‘Nuff said.

Doesn’t quite win the top prize for “clarity & diction of the vocals” though!

I must assume thats pre-Alfasound era Jonno? Any ideas who by?

It dates back to the 70s (so pre-Alfasound, yes). I’ve a funny feeling a band – whether big(ish) name or not I don’t recall – recorded it.
There was also a longer cut which I provide a link to here in case anyone might recognise the ‘sound’..
