dreke61,
just wanted to add my thanks too for posting the Signature demo.
Would love to hear the other American Image demos i.e. Airwaves, Music Explo, Tech Effects and Fast Forward – any chance of posting here on JingleMad ?
If not, please drop me an email to discuss further…

Rick, I had to rattle my head on hearing this 2nd lot…recognised the first 2-3 cuts but couldn't
place them at first…(brain tries to go back 38 years to one single obscure tape dub…)But I think they are from the slightly bizarre Pepper-Tanner early 1970s effort (“Reachin' Out…”)
which deliberately used “WABC” on the demo, with a slightly “not quite the same” version of the
WABC logo, even though everyone knew WABC was contracted to PAMS. (I'm sure TC could
put me right on any errors I may make on this?)The cuts (mostly) all had the lyric “Reachin' Out, Touchin' You” (shades of Neil Diamond?)
The originals on the demo were also bizarre because each cut had a somewhat pointless bland
moog-y 7-note pad thing AFTER the end of the vocals, at a time when the “acapella ending”
instead of the “chord hit” was the way cuts were being produced then. If I remember correctly,
the demo had psuedo-airchecks of the cuts but the record intros would start at the end of the
jingle vocal so that the moog bit literally crashed over the front of the record.Judging by the CHOV re-sings, perhaps like a lot of Tanner's (ahem) “not very successful”
packages of that era, I would say the cuts were re-jigged as shorter versions under different
names (c.f. “Brave New World”, which sounded like James Taylor, which got chopped-up and
re-branded as a Country package, or “Odyssey 70” which also came out in a “tighter” version
called “Good Thing” (e.g. KWNO Winona for anyone here over the age of 30!).May 19, 2008 at 10:09 pm #59442radio_bloke

As mentioned before, American Image was a production company based in Memphis. They were owned by the drug company Schering-Plough, but I don't know when they went out of business, sometime in the 1980's I'd guess. Somewhere I have a cover to a demo LP they put out that had a lot of photos and information about the company on it. In addition to the music packages mentioned they also made “The Money Machine”, a set of ad jingles in generic categories that local stations could get customized with their local client's name. (Toby Arnold and others offered the same service around this time as well) and “Country Punch”, which was a set of production music for country music stations.
I also have the demo LP and the whole LP library for Music Explo — a lot of that material sounds very dated today.

On the cassette it says: American Image, P.O. Box 366, Memphis, TN 3811-0366. Toll Free: 1-800-251-2058. In Tennessee: 901-320-5126.
