        Quick clarifications please N.?

        1) What year please is the TFM?
        2) Is the Invicta FM being in bold indeed available as the full caboodle and what running time?
(My embargoed dub runs to over 58 minutes)

Sounds like your Invicta dub is of the 1990 package Iain with “the best music Invicta FM” song / track, the 1989 package was less”less exciting and shorter” with a lot of cuts from the C21 WAXY package and mainly featured cuts with the two frequencies sung.

Thanks Michael – my dub indeed has all the variants of the excellent big TOH – heard Invicta back then while in Sussex – big signal!

PS “STINKing my beak in” – ??? – must admit not an expression I’ve heard before – predictive txt is diabolical!

Although I stand to be corrected by Mr Carmen, I was lead to believe a few years back that backing tracks for some of the TM You package sadly seem to no longer exist or cannot be found. Possibly the will.same regarding the backing tracks sadly for the Beacon 303 “You” British resings as well.

If you lived in Kent you would also remember that this whole package was available to purchase direct from the station on CD as it was the first station in the UK ( or so they claimed ) to have a jingle package recorded all in Digital they even had a special program about the new package with interview with David Arnold who was the UK Agent for C21 at the time

As per Martin, Premier Radio / Delta in Surrey had their JAM / Alfa on 2 CDs available to listeners, and Lantern FM in Devon had theirs on cassette (got one).
WAV dubs of all the Invicta/Premier/Delta CDs are certainly “floating around” should anyone be “short of a copy” ;^)

                  { Shame certain other stations didn’t do the same though – although I’m sure the items above must surely have infringed the Producers’ Copyright? }

PK – if anything that was EMIson or Yamco tracks/masters ever got kept, I can’t imagine WHERE they could be now – unless there’s
a “vault” somewhere under Abbey Road?

The year of the TFM package is unknown as the date wasn’t available when it was transferred. Perhaps somebody familiar with the station could advise? The Invicta package runs to 26’11 with cue tones. As Michael said, the one you referred to is the 1990 Steamroller package.

Iain in answer to your first question it seems to be some time in the latter half of 1988 when Radio Tees was relaunched as TFM 96.6 – I can’t find any references to the exact date – As there was no splitting of frequencies as with stations like Red Rose / Piccadilly etc. Great North Radio, or G.N.R as it was sometimes called, launched in March 1989.
Whilst satill broadcasting on 96.6 TFM effectively closed on Sunday 7th March 2013, As of Monday 8 April 2013, ALL Metro’s programming is shared with TFM with local TFM branding / news / information and ads insered.

Michael, there’s a large TFM “Music Radio” “Ninety-Six Sixty” 1988 dub here that I know was re-sung for the VOP in the Med.
                          Might well be the package.

Edit:- A quick sample now attached…
                          https://soundcloud.com/allthebestjingles03/ij-tfm-ninetysix-sixty/s-qDCoY

The “96.60” I didn’t quite “get” at the time, but I know from “other places” that some BBC locals at that time (pre-fancy PLL tuners)
also had “second digit after the point” carrier frequencies so perhaps someone at Tees in the day was thinking along those lines
when getting the new station image created?

I wonder if TFM would have reverted to Radio Tees (as Metro FM reverted to Metro Radio) if the Beeb hadn’t taken the Tees name?

I think I’m correct in saying that the 1988 TFM Alfasound package came in three distinctive parts; these being (1) the main full package and then a couple of subsequent top-up packages; (2) a set of Traffic, News & Weather cuts and (3) a set of Christmas cuts. I believe the montage you have posted Iain just includes the main package which I strongly suggest is what the MPF are including on this release.

Just as an aside, the Radio Limerick One Alfasound package sounds interesting as I don’t recall that one ever appearing on the Alfasound ID Collection series back in the day!

It’s on Volume 20 but marked as RLO (Eire) on the tape box design

As a student in Leeds in 1990/1 if I went to the top attic bedroom in the house I lived in and pointed the ariel in a particular way I could get TFM on a good day! TFM was running a mix of those Alfasound custom jingles, JAM jingles – but only a few and a hit 30 jingle / bed from AJ. It’s odd as the other stations were quite tight on imaging and TFM seemed to be a bit of a hotch potch.
But then again at that time Pennine FM was only running the tag version of the Pennine FM jingles with the station name and using the Red Rose LBS “instant sensation music invasion”cut instrumental as a news intro!!!!

I’ve just gone back to my old tape airchecks and found this from June 1991- i fogot that TFM had an awsome weather bed – As heard on my aircheck – The Metro travel bed and now i remember they had the most useless drone as a news intro. Also there are some jingles I don’t think were on the Alfasound series “All hits All day TFM” which they were using as thier strapline. And also the Top 30 AJ bed.

                                  https://clyp.it/oa1wn0mz

That RLO is a funny old composite of CNFM, Radio 210, BBC Radio Lancashire & the travel bed from Classic Gold (YRN) If I were putting together a copmosite package around that time I would not have used the CNFM / Radio 210 as my starting place but ho hum! sorry if I digress – the ramblings of an old anorak!

Volume 20 – One of a handful that I don’t have a copy of. All I have is a scan of the cassette sleeve :-(
