Earlier in the week I posted a montage to mark Metro Radio’s 40th birthday, but I posted it as a reply within another thread. It would probably have been better to post it as a new thread, with a direct embedded link to the audio, so here it is… more info and credits at http://metro40.wordpress.com/

July 19, 2014 at 1:50 pm #95234LenGroatCongratulations on the HUGE compilation – a jingle history of the station in one file!
July 24, 2014 at 11:25 am #95276jonnoMemberI’ve finally completed listening to this. A huge piece of work and great to hear – thanks for putting it together.
August 9, 2014 at 6:34 pm #95365DunsBusThe bed for the ones at 27 minutes in sound very familiar to me (where Nicky Brown jokes about Alan Robson recording them with crossed legs). Forth used the same bed as part of their Hit Music Radio package in the mid 80s, as “You’re in tune…. with Radio Forth”. The Metro versions sound as if they were done by David Balfe who was responsible for Forth’s jingle packages at that time.

July 20, 2015 at 9:48 pm #98103radio_blokeMemberWell Done David!
What a spooky trip down memory lane!
The first part of the montage (pre Alfa & Jam) took me back to 1980. My first jingle reel to reel swap dubbing session.
Sadly, I suspect my dub was several generations away from yours. I have never heard those cuts in that quality.
Bravo!July 21, 2015 at 11:53 am #98109LenGroatRak: well done on your chronological compilation – a ton of work ! I’m sitting here feeling quite Nostalgic after the first 2 sections….
I actually forgot it was the 41st until the day.
You may be able to hear from the end of the PAMS 13 KOL song there was DiStOrTiOn on the master tape at the end! I did ask PAMS for some re-sings of cuts from the second PAMS package I did not think up to par but no luck. Also, there were ZERO mix-outs – thank goodness JAM came along and started to share all the goodies…
It was after my time there- but I NEVER understood why the Emison package has such long ‘oonnnnneeeee’s on them !?
Best wishes
Len
