Hello Jingle fans. A Bob Lewis jingle has been rolling around my brain for a while and searches haven’t turned up anything. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me out. As far as my memory goes it starts with male acapella “Bobaloo, Bobaloo, Bobaloo I Aye” can’t recall what comes after, but the jingle ends with “The big Bob Lewis show” Not sure if this is a PAMS cut. Would love to get a hold of it and add it to my collection.
Thanks for reading this,
Rich
Green BayFebruary 27, 2024 at 6:09 pm #109943rock_n_richieMemberHi Rich,
The old WNEW-FM did a tribute to WABC just after they went talk in 1982. 33:00 into the video Bob Lewis starts talking about the theme he used, it plays at 35:20 into the video.
It was done by a doo-wop group called The Eternals.

February 28, 2024 at 1:20 pm #109948don1400MemberAuthorHi R-n-R, Thanx so much for the info you provided. Yes, I see how the song influenced the jingle. GREAT interview bit in the vid audio as Lewis explains how it all came about, I had no idea. Gonna listen to the whole WNEW thing this weekend.
So I guess now the question is does anyone have this jingle? I can trade an mp3 of all Lewis’s custom Pams jingles dubbed right from the master Jock Jingles tape at WABC in ’67, superb quality.
Thanks again R-n-R, appreciate your reply.

about “local radio” versus big coverage area radio – as UK commercial radio slides down
into the abyss of almost every “ILR” now being finally swallowed by either of the 2
foreign-owned networking “giants”.:^{

I enjoyed 22+ years of local radio here in Green Bay at one station. 9-1-2000 it all came crashing down as Cumulus bought the owners out. It took about 3 months for Cum to decimate the station. Four news guys released in the first week or so, 2 jocks, ALL part timers were fired in the first month. A great production room was nearly stripped of the good equipment and sent to other stations. EVERYTHING was bottom line. I got lucky though, they transferred me to one of their other stations where I stayed for about 10 years putting up with near daily BS. I finally decided to retire when in December 2010 a message came down from Corporate that ALL small market and many medium market stations would have to let go of any and all Morning show co-hosts.
With that I had enough. I still miss it all today, and would do it all over again.

To once again paraphrase Patrick McGougan in “The Prisoner”…
“I am a name, not a spelling mistake!”
Iain … not Lain – I wish JM’s (excellent) Admin would change the default font that shows a capital-EYE as the same visually as a small-letter-ELL !!!
Apart from that, good anecdote from Don about “Green Bay’s Number One” 1400 WDUZ.

You did indeed Rich!

Not to worry, not the only one!(Some Irish friends of ours have got Irish Gaelic first-names that phonetically are absolutely nothing like that what they seem to be from the spelling!)
Anyway, back to the topic…
:^)March 3, 2024 at 5:45 pm #109964Neil LeibowitzMemberBy 1966 or so, WABC had purchased Jingles for their DJs, as a result, the “jingle” that The Eternals sang for Bob was eventually edited to where Bob would play the “Acapella” portion-“The Bobalooie Show”–and “dovetailed” into the station jingle..HERE: Bobaloo Eternals, station jingles @ 3:36 in clip. By the way–if you listen as Bob says Goodbye–he is talking “TEXT”–as he says “Bobalou saying B-B-L”–the reason being he would return in 12 hours (4 am) for a 2 hour show on Monday. Not bad talking “TEXT” 23 years or so ahead of his time…:)
