Hey everyone,
I have a special news report to share with you all: As of 2012, 98.5 KYGO in denver are now airing jingles from reelworld One: country! they are currently using the KNCI logo. anyone recently got a chance to listen to the cuts? back in the day, They released the KYGO cuts from reelworld both in 1999 and 2010. 1 year later they are moveing up the rode from airing old jingles from 1999/2010 to airing the updated jingles from reelworld One: country! any opinions/off-air recordings? I don’t have any off-air recordings, nor I haven’t even herd the jingles. The only jingles I have herd was the KNCI logo resings for KRST in Albuquerque, NM. any off-air recordings/opinions are welcome. thanks for reading!April 28, 2012 at 3:05 pm #83825ratnobMemberSad to hear the old logo has gone – one of my favourites (in fact I’m, er, eating up a JAM KYGO jingle as a possible future personal cut … )
April 28, 2012 at 3:50 pm #83827jc_djmacI know, but I am glad that they made the upgrade to reelworld one: country. I actually listened to one of the cuts and they sound amazing!did any of you listened to the cuts?

And this is new?April 28, 2012 at 8:38 pm #83831jc_djmacFor RWOne Country, yes. the cuts are on the air right now. As I stated before, they are currently using the KNCI logo. I haven’t got an opertunity to listen to the entire package off-air, just that 1 cut. have you? I also herd that KCYE just got some new updates from RWOne country.
April 29, 2012 at 9:43 pm #83849ratnobMemberHere’s how the station was sounding tonight: one sung jingle that sounds like it could be any station in any city in any state in any country.
May 5, 2012 at 3:33 am #83963jc_djmacNicely dun Bob. yes, that’s indeed the new logo! how about an off-air montage of just the jingles itself.
May 5, 2012 at 12:05 pm #83969LenGroatI am glad that they made the upgrade to reelworld one: country. Did any of you listened to the cuts?
I don’t think you could ever call this an ‘upgrade’ !?
The one Blingle played on what was a long airchecck showed they are hardly using them, and the cut featured was neither clear lyrically, melodic, or memorable, and certainly not a ‘country’ sound
WHY bother with it?
In contrast the superb JAM packages gave each letter of the call-letters room to breathe and have a most memorable melody….
With that screeeccchhy up-note at the end of the new logo the station sounds like no one knows HOW to commission jingles, or cares…
May 5, 2012 at 5:46 pm #83971jc_djmacwell, when I Was listening to the station, they sang “No talk” throughout the jingle, followed by the “985 KYGO” logo. it sounded great! I just wish I could hear the montage of just the jingles itself.

But the same can be said for any jingle producer. Look at Turbo z from Jam; how many stations bought that package? And series 22 from Pams?

I believe it’s called moving with the times, something you might not be familiar with.
And basing your online comments from a 2.53 grab? That is unfair to say the least; You continuously claim to be a radio expert, so you should know jingles aren’t used in between every song or out of every stopset.
Try listening to the station for an hour or two to get a better view to how they are being utilized.May 6, 2012 at 5:46 am #83986LenGroatWAVA
“But the same can be said for any jingle producer. Look at Turbo z from Jam; how many stations bought that package? And series 22 from Pams?”You are completely missing the point: those older jingles were longer and/or had VERY clear vocals!

“I believe it’s called moving with the times, something you might not be familiar with. And basing your online comments from a 2.53 aircheck?”You’ve forgotten that these are not made for our edification, but to IDENTIFY the station to listeners. These new KYGO jingles are NOT clear at all, is THAT ‘moving with the times’ ?? They could have been sung through a megaphone!
As regards how long one listens, in America a station has about 5-10 minutes to tell the listener its name or they’ve moved on. One jingle in 45 minutes is not going to ‘work’, they may as well stick with voice pieces, which was my point; ‘why bother’ with jingles..

From where I’m sitting they clearly identify the station. The file was probably grabbed from an internet stream; as you know these aren’t always the best quality. Actually I checked, and it’s only a 32kbps stream.

Who says they played one jingle in “45 minutes”? You can’t gauge that based on a 2.37 grab. I’ve had KYGO on for the past 30 minutes and I’ve heard 2 of the new jingles.
I’m no expert on the UK, but I don’t think BBC 2 play jingles after every song to identify themselves?May 6, 2012 at 6:16 am #83989LenGroatWAVA
If you can keep listening to KYGO for 30 minutes … I understand why you think they are good jingles.
BBC (Radio ) 2 has over 14 MILLION listeners each week so does not NEED to identify very often….

I never said they were good jingles.
It’s a situation where KYGO have updated their sound to reflect the change in music. There’s a reason why stations go to Reelworld and TM Studios for their jingles, as I think even you will admit JAM haven’t evolved much over the past 15 years.
I can’t even recall the last country package to come out of Parkdale Drive.May 6, 2012 at 8:49 am #83992LenGroatMay 6, 2012 at 4:23 pm #83994glenLen;

Leaving aside the pros & cons of the above debate for just a moment – WAVA for your next summer “vacation” may I highly recommend that you visit FRANCE, and take along a radio/recorder – you’ll find that away from the heavily-US-cloned world of radio, jingles DO get very heavily used as described above on many kinds of stations (and they don’t always get produced in Seattle either)

Excellent point, Wixy1360. Every time I go to Europe I am struck by how much sung jingles are used, how well they work, and how they help to create a memorable station sound. They don’t appear to be seen by PDs as cheesy or outdated, but instead integral to station imaging.
May 7, 2012 at 6:06 pm #84026glenRw is the only company can put out a country jingle with decent soloist at the beginning and then you get finger nails on a chalk board singers at the end.
June 11, 2012 at 1:40 am #84635jc_djmachere is the montage recorded from the webstream! Enjoy!
