I just recently discovered this site and am impressed by what you have here.

The KONO (San Antonio) package was released in 1974. I remember the jingle salesman, Bob Gross had been an assistant program director at WFIL Philadelphia and as I recall was also consulting KONO.

I had just been hired as news director of the station and there was a big meeting in the conference room involving everyone in the radio station, not just the air staff. He addressed the staff and said “I offer you a chance to turn s**t to platinum.”

Well, we were getting brutally beaten in the ratings by KTSA and the jingle package was on less than a year. The PD and several jocks were fired and the next pd went and dug up some old accapella cuts from old packages. The station continued to flounder as a top 40 station. The package may have been used by other stations but I don't recall ever hearing them.

        Welcome Paul…..

The Tanner Package was called Super O. Here are a few cuts…

Ironically, 'parts' of these WERE heard in the north-east of England in 1975.

I had bought the first Metro Radio PAMS package in 1974 and (in my capacity as 'jingle freak) had been able to 'milk' demos out of Tanner! I spliced some of the intros on these onto parts of the PAMS package…. I doubt if anyone in Memphis would have been able to hear this !? :-)

I believe, these featured the Dallas singers (maybe Jackie Dickson on lead?) and did Chris Kershaw maybe write some or all of them? The box was labelled 'Thunder Productions' and there were several other packages in this style at this time.

The thunder packages were written by Chris Kershaw (and engineered by Jon Wolfert). Yes… They used the same “A” group singers as the other jingle companies and were sung in Dallas. I think this has been covered in other threads about SIMPLE & FREE.

From our Dallas visit in 2004, I noticed on one shelf in JAM`s Vault some THUNDER boxes…
