It’s a close call in november ratings: K-Hits climbs 2.4 to 2.6% (10+) while competitor WLS-FM drops from 3.2 to 2.7% in Chicago market. The great voice of Canadian Earl Mann and new Reelworld jingles seem to do a lot for the ‘fresh’ sounding adult hits outlet in the Windy City.

This is how the station voice sounds with the Reelworld 80s music cuts:

There’s tight and then there’s tight – why does whoever is making these insist on having the V/O cut off the first syllable of the sing in some the whole first word – I’m assuming its Chicago’s greatest hits not Cargo’s – maybe I’m an old fuddy duddy in my production values. I’m not criticising the Jingles or the voice but why run them all over each other so tightly they are inaudible? I

I just played with them MB no worries. In the Reelworld cuts a lot of lyrics are repeated (‘The greatest the greatest the greatest hits’). In my on air production I also like to put rhythm into voice/music cuts.

Just an FYI: These are not actual K-Hits production elements. NONE of these have ever aired on our station. I know Marc said he “just played with them,” but that may confuse some.

Anyhow, it’s great to see the format growing in the market.

this is great. i love seeing a couple of strong hitters go at it. the listener is always the winner. THATS what its all about. the interesting aspect is watching the production, elements and jingle packages battle it out. granted, the jingles will not determine the final out come, but they do play a good part. tm vs reel. both first rate.
i would suspect wls might have a bit of an unfair advantage; tm being part of their ownership family, but bring it on. ;-)) well done fresh radio will never die.
