Thanks for posting – a great pingle.
June 4, 2014 at 9:19 pm #94676IainJohnstonWhy do people keep on pinching my INITIALS? I was here first!
IJGreat “pingle” though – and probably the best cut from Good Feelings?
June 4, 2014 at 10:23 pm #94681kolossMemberYes, best cut from Good Feelings for sure (imho) I’m glad the track survived-
It’s always neat hearing lyric adaptations. Different groups/combinations of singers sang that cut lots of different ways back in the day. Interesting when Len had it done to hear it with the (veteran) singers of now.June 19, 2014 at 6:51 am #94903Sean MartinMemberJames Pearson scripted the lyrics for this version of Big Time Radio cut 1 and also wrote an alternate set of lyrics. Here’s the main version.
It’s so catchy that in no time at all, you’ll be singing along
June 19, 2014 at 11:22 am #94906LenGroatThat’s a great re-lyric James! Names of artists or places are some of the hardest to ‘fit’ together – that work well.
A good strong and contemporary vocal sound too!
June 19, 2014 at 1:43 pm #94908Sean MartinMemberHere’s the alternate version of Big Time Radio cut 1, once again penned by James Pearson. It also contains JAM !
June 19, 2014 at 2:36 pm #94909IainJohnstonI was thinking about submitting one of my “pingles” to the Jingleday, but not sure if there’s now time left (or the technology available) for David/Jonno to lash-up some kind of “video montage” of such items?
June 19, 2014 at 5:34 pm #94918jonnoMembertry me Iain! I’m not expecting to have much time for sleep the night before the event
June 19, 2014 at 5:41 pm #94919IainJohnstonOK Jonno – I’ll bung the more “generic” one into D/box – it WILL be uncompressed though!
NB – NOT for release to the outside world though please, other than for any JMday streaming/screening/post-Day disk/closed circuit montages-etc dubs for JMers
Ta!

Originally produced in 1979 for radio station WCAO in Baltimore, Maryland USA, this is a 2014 version which has been resung in Dallas for the personal use of James Pearson. He’s pretty nifty with writing lyrics, too
Soloists are Kay Sharpe and Bruce Wermuth.
You’ll be tapping your feet and singing along in no time!
November 18, 2014 at 5:56 pm #96250michiMemberOne of these days, I will be ordering Big Time Radio #1 but I will have to travel to Tokyo in order to do the video version of the jingle.
November 18, 2014 at 8:18 pm #96251Sean MartinMemberMichi, just stand on a rooftop for a couple of minutes, not too close to the edge and with a steady hand (so before you hit the nightlife). We’ll see to the rest.

This jingle began life in the 1970’s for Chicago radio station WFYR. The jingle package is called You Are The Words (We Are The Music).
The version presented here features the original male solo that was sung at the TM Studios of Dallas on January 16th, 1980 on a spec jingle for Britain’s BBC Radio 2. All the group vocals were recorded at TM in 2014. -
