[Inferno]

Hello All,

I was just wondering what jingles would collectors, radio people, etc, would listen to in their cars. I ask this due to me being at my local library at the moment and i was listening to JAM's Radio Nova's 82 and BBC Radio York's 85 packages on the way here….and that got me thinking.

Would a TM rocky 80s package sound good or a Reelworld Kiss package maybe?

Any ideas anyone?

Frankly, almost anything is better than my local radio stations!!

I love listening to montages / compilations of JAM / TM, with the occasional PAMS cut thrown in for good measure. I also often listen to CDs I bought from KENR – various montages, such as TC's Monster Sampler and packages of cuts “in the clear” from the glory days of PAMS. Apart from PAMS, which I always enjoy, I seem to connect best with output from the era of the Alfa/JAM collaborations and some of the classic JAM packages from the 80s and 90s – and TM too.

I love radio, but sadly don't really find any stations in my area especially enjoyable to listen to – they don't use their jingles properly anyway. I mix my own music compilation CDs and drop in a few jingles between tracks for good measure – it works for me. I recently received a CD from a regular contributor to this site, with an excellent eclectic mix of music tracks and classic jingle cuts – much better than anything my local stations are offering!!

Wow! Interesting question given that I just spent a lot of time in the car today!

Given that my little CD holder in the car only holds a certain number of CDs and I don't have the iPod hook-up for the car stereo, I tend to rotate CDs through given my mood. For instance, during today's three hour round-trip to my weekend part-time gig that allows me to stay on-air and doing news, I had many of my JAM demo CDs fired up. If I recall, Oldies Vol. 1 and Country Vols. 1 and 2 were the order of the day.

I've also got a number of burned CDs that I'll rotate through. They contain demos that I've downloaded that I dont' have on CDs pressed by the company. In addition, I have several burned CDs of montages from all you folks. Given that I tend to be a big fan of JAM, TM Century/Century 21, and the traditional seven voice vocal group, my picks tend to be heavy on those.

Kind of off topic…but perhaps interesting nonetheless…jingle montages are really great to run to on the treadmill. I currently work for a big university here in Chicago and frequent its rec. center/gym, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who has jingles turned up loud on the old iPod (kinda doubt the college kids are listening to them…although I certainly did in college )

That was a great mix there, Goeff. Loved that and really loved the WFIL jingle on there! Was that a JAM or PAMS jingle?

Actually, it was Toby Arnold from around 1980, but it sounds very similar to a TM cut.

That is a good choice. I think JAM's New York Song from 1979 and Alfasound's Radio Trent song from 1983 would be good as well!
