Ah yes, Touch & Go – can’t remember who sung it, but I do remember the song. Seem to recall some presenters on Signal Radio and possibly Piccadilly got similar jingles made for them. It got a fair bit of airplay at the time.

Len – out of interest as I was only 2 at the time Did they ever consult with the stations regarding lyrics and content for these. On several of these for Metro and others they refer to Radio Metro – Did they never check the names of the stations? Or were people just more lax on branding and names because there were less around?

They took any details from what the station published – there were few stations so the record reps came in every week with new product and knew us quite well – note Adrian Baker even knew my show was 9 – 1 !

In Metro’s case it was partly Metro’s fault as their initial notepaper/ comp slips + logos on OB vans said ‘Metropolitan’ (we had some sing-overs with that on !) Also the listeners called it ‘Radio Metro’ as the public were used to it being first: Radio One and Two. We resolved it as regards station jingles with the first PAMS package 4 months after we launched but record companies continued for some time to bring in sing-overs with various versions of the name on.
