I am not one to complain but after all the support we have given to the jingle network over the years, I am shocked to find that the people that made the site what it is today are now EXCLUDED from it

      http://www.jinglenetwork.info/

yes you heard it right the Jingle Network is now ONLY available to radio stations, if the person behind this is reading this all I can say is

      Thanks a lot for nothing!

as far as I can say this is a kick in the teeth for jingle fans everywhere

Apparently you ARE one to complain. You chose your very first post to flame about another member’s website.

…or are you an active Jinglemad member posting under an alias?

I think we need to know all the facts concerning JN before passing judgement.

This has to be a joke… A take off on the common policy among some jingle companies to only distribute demos to legit radio stations…

kcmike if you care to check the link you can see this is NO JOKE

I have tried to track down the person behind this but the only response is an automated “this is now only available to radio stations only”

I didnt know it was April 1 already. God time flies! I really do hope that this is a big joke. BUT if it isnt, you still DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to flame a website on here. It may disappoint users of Jinglemad that the jingle network is only available to radio stations only. Get over it! Hopefully it will come to pass and we can all hear the jingle network again. But please dont flame peoples websites.

                I saw it.

I had actually discovered it last night. But I think your response is a little over the top.

Certainly Jingle fans have given the site a lot of support, but I believe the intent of the site was to provide Radio Stations with imaging information. (correct me if I’m wrong)

Maybe we ARE entitled to an explanation, but I hardly take it as some sort of “kick in the teeth” to Jinglemad or Jingle fans in general

Sorry if you don’t like my tone but I have passed the word round for months, and now find out we are all excluded and I am entilted to my opion, also if the person behind this wanted it to be for radio stations only funny how they have waited until now to decide it

I would like to know though if any of the “Senior” members or moderators can fill the rest of us in on what’s happening with JN

With regards to JJ Jingles flaming here, well, his IP address has matched another member here whom was at the London JM meet so Ill deal with that in private.

Jingle Network. Yes this is now only available to Radio Stations, but the politics of it are that it was requested by several major producers. It was either do it or not get any material and at the end of the day JN was meant as a resource for stations rather than collectors. That was the original remit for JN. I made it available to collectors purely for the interest factor.

Also work this out: 13mb times by 100,000 is a LOT of bandwidth and a LOT of money ive spent on this in the past 6 months.

A open posting for all those disappointed by the decision taken..

Please take time to appreciate the decision for what it is and please appreciate that Dave, Bryson, and Stuart have put in all time and effort UNPAID….yes, that’s UNPAID, for those who have an active interest.
Although I can appreciate that access for a collector will no longer be available via the site ,which may be disappointing for some, Dave funds the operation , hosts the operation ,and uses his own bandwidth, so by flaming him, it is simply not right to do so in such a public forum as his contribution is immense and is well respected by all of us in the jingle community.

The work that goes in to the production of each issue is immense considering the background editing, recording and the sourcing of material that has to be put in by those responsible. If it is the case that producers have requested material issued by them is only for access by those in the industry, it is only right that this is followed and that any goodwill gained during this time is not abused.

May I go on record in publicly thanking Dave for allowing us access to this material over the last 9 months or so , and to wish him further success in continuing with this personal project . In the meantime, lets use this forum constructively to discuss new packages ,old packages, and unusual packages in a way more befitting and respectfully !

                            Alright ?

                            Stay Bright !

I AM trying to make an edition available for collectors – but JJ might have put paid to that.

                                  Controversy on THIS web site?

Well, it certainly has my attention.

This flaming thing is interesting…I guy was agitated about a jingle site and expressed his opinion; fur flys like somebody just tore up a picture of the Pope on live television (oh wait, that’s already been done).

There’s a smell of politics in the air here…much sucking up going on and ultimately much ado about nothing on BOTH sides of the aisle.

                                  A. A jingle site closes itself off to the general public…business decision, financial reasons…whatever, it THEIR choice….free market economy. I run a business, I have a web site and if I choose for whatever reason to limit its viewer ship…that MY choice. 8)

                                  B. An appreciative viewer of a web site is shocked and saddened at being blocked off and then shares his frustration on an a jingle web bulletin board. That’s what bulletin boards are for. Sure, there are general rules of conduct but honestly he was not vulgar in his expression just irritated. 👿

BTW, as far as I can tell, nobody on this web site has to deal with famine, war or financial ruin on a daily basis. Let’s gain some perspective, settle down on the egos and cue the jingle.

Lord only knows how much trouble THIS will be me into… 🙄

The main problem was, Peter, the fact that someone created a new account especially to rant against a site and its owner.

If this person had have posted under his normal account (and not shouted so much) this messy thread might have been more reasonable, and action would not have been taken against him.

Seeing as at least one company (TMCI) gave jinglenetwork a jingle with the lyrics “here on the world wide web..etc…”I would be most interested to know, if David Hemsley would be so kind as to tell us, which of the major jingle houses don’t want to have their jingles available to the jingle community! As you may know, many of us are from outside the UK and DO work for radio stations…. so are these companies going to pay jinglenetwork the postage once a month to send us their demos?

I’d like to echo what Peter said… I know I haven’t posted here very much, but I’ve been collecting here and there for ten years this fall. For me it started when Ben Freedman sent me demos from Thompson Creative in the mail. I’ll never forget what it was like to see that package with the TC label on it in my mail box… It was a Saturday…. we were raking leaves in the yard when it came…

Shortly after that, great people like Tom Parma and Jon Wolfert at JAM and others at TM Century helped me build my demo collection. They didn’t know me from Adam… I was just an annoying kid from South Carolina.

To me, this hobby has always been about fun… and enjoying a great part of radio… and great music (because lord knows, jingles are great music)…

                                          Why take it so seriously?

I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m going to pop in the “20 Years in 20 Minutes” montage and turn it up loud and enjoy the rest of my evening…happy that I have such a great hobby with wonderful and generous people in it…

You have hit the nail on the head! I have been collecting for just shy of three years now. This is a very fun and rather exciting hobby. I have been helped my companies such as Jam, Reelwold, Thomspon & TM in building my demo collection. I have never worked with nicer people.

There was a person at reelworld that introduced me to jingle mad! I think that this site has a wonderful group of people. The people on here have helped me greatly in starting my collection. But this is a hobby and shouldnt be taken too seriously. People shouldnt take offense to much that goes on around here. But what do I know about it, I am just a kid from Minnesota.

I really appreciate everything that the users of jingle mad have done for me and hell everyone for that matter to make this a fun and exciting hobby, and a user friendly site to post forum topics.

Anyways, I am going to knock off the sappy stuff now. Thanks again!

As I said earlier – the main problem with the post was that a new account was created with the specific intention of causing trouble. If anyone thinks that is acceptable behaviour then they are not welcome here.

It wasn’t the current bunch of people submitting to Jingle Network that asked us to distribute to Radio Stations only, but a few that *wouldn’t* let us have anything. Sadly i’m torn between two sides here, the community and the project as a whole.

So what do I do? |I certainly couldn’t be paying for the bandwidth in its current form so that was one decision that would have to be taken anyway.

Please accept that Jingle Network News was an experimental project and the sponsors got the full 6 months they were promised.

                                              JNN closed web streaming for the following reasons;

                                              1) It was only ever meant to be an experimental project. Sadly it was far more successful than I have wanted it to be.
                                              2) Various companies would NOT send us anything to feature as they felt it was geared for collectors. JNN was really only ever meant to be for Radio Stations, it was made available to collectors purely for the interest factors.
                                              3) Very few of you entered the contests therefore making it difficult to sell it to other sponsors
                                              4) cost. 13mb x 100,000 is a LOT of bandwidth, and a HUGE amount of money. I could have bought a dozen JAM personals with what I have paid in costs to allow the community to listen.

For what it’s worth, Jingle Network IS continuing, just not on the web for the time being – if I can suss out a way of slashing the costs then I’ll be more than happy to put it back up for you to listen to – but that means there would be 2 versions, a radio one and a collector one – and I’m not sure I have the time or interest to produce both. Certainly not when I am getting dissed for my decision.

If anyone wants me to resign from here, just say so.

I for one am far more disappointed with the jingle companies who have forced you into making this decision. Maybe they don’t realise that some of us ‘jingle collectors’ are also jingle buyers!!!!!

I think sometimes we forget the great things we do have – Jinglemad is the source of great stuff to either download or just listen to – When it happens in jingleworld we all know about it here.
I’m sure the work for JingleMad is costly enough in terms of time and finances. I well understand the frustration of something being removed because of constraints like bandwidth costs. So maybe we should be thankful for all the work that goes on here and celebrate what WE do have. I think David is very generous with his collection and time / effort for the community. (And others)
What if we were to log on to find the same message here “closed” due to lack of time and cost – It’s happened for a number of reasons to other forums.
I’m not a sycophantic person but I like Jinglemad and the people I’ve been able to meet / trade with.
Sad that TJN has had to close its doors in the format it was. Maybe it would have been nice if we had got a warning post before to avoid the “shock” that some of us got. But hindsight is a great thing.
I’ll not be up my self and speak on behalf of anyone else – but I think we’ve got a lot to celebrate and have fun with and share.
I also hope that the JN guys can take the upset in a positive way – if people didn’t like it, appreciate it and want it you’d get no reaction. So whilst the first post was a bit reactionary don’t be too harsh. It just proves that people listen and care. Better to go and be missed than no-one notice.
I guess there’s a bit of bad feeling, upset and regret. That’s so not in the spirit that I like to think that brings us together.
