Hi Jinglemadders
Here are the details for the Jinglemad Jingle Day 2014 [as heard on Jinglemad Radio].
It’s in Portsmouth on June 21st (but that happily extends between June 20th – 22nd for the real hardcore).
We are in the process of arranging some VIP guests, guest speakers, a visit to Portsmouth’s heritage radio station, fun activities and… er… other stuff.
It would be great to know that you’ve marked that weekend clear in your diary for pure, unadulterated jingle anorakism. Please show your intention to attend by registering on this page.
Keep listening to Jinglemad Radio for more information and we’ll continue to post information here.
If you’re unsure, basically it’s a weekend of friends, beer and jingles. Anything else is a bonus.
Keep an eye out on Twitter for #JingleDay
* All details correct at time of going to press. For external use only. Batteries not included. Your home may be at risk if you set fire to it.

Google maps etc – distance Edinburgh area to Pompey approx 475 miles each way.Ah well, maybe “somewhere further northwards” again the next time Gents?
Or maybe with “today’s advanced technology” a Skype “live by satellite” link or something for those of us not quite able to just tootle along the road for the occasion?
Edit:- “Portsmouth Harber” – best dire pun I’ve heard for a long time!!!

Ah, Iain
You know what, the Skype idea is a rather good one! Along Jonno (the reason this event is in Portsmouth), we are getting together for some planning next week. I am sure we can devise something that involves Jinglemadders from “up north”, even those who are belly aching about wanting to be in “a different country”.
If anyone has any suggestions for the event, they would be most welcome on this post, or when you REGISTER.
Looking forward to meeting many of you…
Portsmouth Harber (Mr)

If there was a “Caroline North”, then I’m sure a “JingleMad Day North” can be managed at some stage again in the future (was the last “northern” one Sheffield, Big Dave?)
{Shame the Steve England 1999 “event” in Cheshire at the nice hotel got aborted…was signed up for that!)

Definitely too far for me as well, being based in the States.
I was tempted though – jingles AND decent beer!
April 9, 2014 at 4:56 pm #94042tyty21
father oblivion, I was thinking the same thing! What if there was a jinglemad jingle day in the states, maybe in one of the major cities, like LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, or Dallas, perhaps? the Skype idea is a great one!
April 9, 2014 at 5:01 pm #94043Jim Donahue
tyty21 – that would be a day of jingles with not-so-great beer!
April 9, 2014 at 5:08 pm #94044IainJohnston
“Definitely too far for me as well…jingles AND decent beer!”
Yes, the “cousins” don’t quite understand “Beer” as opposed to cat’s p*ss – then again, if we could just get “3D Printer Technology” to a more advanced level…”Scotty – Beam Me Up A Pint of Belhaven Best!”
April 9, 2014 at 6:54 pm #94045Jim Donahue
Hear Here Iain – it’s been too long since a fine pint of Belhaven Best passed these lips, though I did enjoy a couple of Caledonian 80 Shillings last time I was over
April 9, 2014 at 9:01 pm #94046IainJohnston
Good Gawd! I thought no-one would know what I was blethering about!
Sadly Belhaven Best is being renamed Caledonian Best (misnomer), and being brewed in Weegieland instead of the old East Lothian brewery. And its wattery by comparison. Pure sacrelege by the philistine Jerry owners…grrh!
(Mind you, the exact same is happening to our radio in Scotland…just a different lot of Germans…).I digress!
(Although a beer-tasteing sub-Membership section for JMers might be well-received idea!)If Pompey, I would hope that the old JingleDay “tradition” of participants submitting jingle mega-montages of rare stuff would be revived, with a download available for others elsewhere to hear post-event?

MemberHi Prometheus, All, I’d usually be up for it and Portsmouth is not a problem as a location and my diaryfor the year is not bursting full but that weekend I’m paticipating in one of my other hobbies and in a fencing tournament in brussels! Which is a shame as it sounds like there is some great stuff in the planning
April 10, 2014 at 12:41 pm #94052Bigdave
Righto!
Days confirmed as off by work,so next thing I’ve got to arrange is travel and accomodation.
Toss up now between train or driving,as they’re both costing out about the same…
BTW the last mainly Northern day was Newcastle for the North East Radio night,if my memory serves me right and a brief sojourn to Salford..

If you are planning to attend, can you PLEASE register your interest by clicking here. This means that we can keep a handle on who will need hotels, etc.
Separately, we are also in the process of working out how we may be able to include non-attendees who may wish to participate using Skype. If you think this may be of interest to you, please do let us know.
Equally, if you can think of anything that we can add to the day’s event, which will help ensure you have a great time, please do let us know. We are working on making this an essential event for Jinglemadders from all eras.

I will be present though I do need to head back over to London on the morning of the 22nd, due to a function taking place hosted by another radio presenter that’s been booked for a few months.
I’ll try and return later on that afternoon. This will be incredible.

Right!
I’m now booked into the Premier Inn in Southsea from the Friday afternoon through until the Sunday. Train to sort next…
I should be also hiring a car whilst I’m down, so would be happy all being well, to act as a welcoming party to those travelling down, as I’ll only be around a mile and a bit away from Portsmouth Harbour station..

MemberGood choice Dave as its only a few hundred metres walk along the sea wall past the Royal Garrison Church directly to Broad Street and on to Bath Square – oh, and the fun fair is next door too
