Hello guys! I was listening to the WJXA 2004 package from Reelworld, and I realized that this package sounds very Urban AC, nowadays.
I was wondering if you guys know any jingle packages that would fit a radio format, other than intended. For example, After Burner from JAM Creative Productions is currently designated as a CHR package, and I heard it on an 80’s station from the mid-2000’s.
Do you guys know any jingle packages that fit with any unintended radio formats?
November 22, 2020 at 10:13 pm #105420jaydohertyMemberNot sure if this fits the exact description… but WGN Chicago (primarily a news/talk station) is currently using a JAM composite package of cuts from both news/talk packages like Top News, Talktrax, Talking Points AND cuts from Top 40/AC and Oldies packages such as Follow The Leader, Variety Pack, Non-Stop Power, Back Seat Music, Nothing But Class, and others.
I may post some of their fantastic JAM re-sings in a montage at some point here on the forum if that sounds interesting? My collection is just recorded from WGN’s stream but they sound great… and they just recently added some new ones from JAM about a month ago! The first part of their package was done in Fall 2019.

Other than that, I feel like some cuts from JAM’s Country packages from the late ’90s (Overdrive, Full Access, Country Buzz) could work well on Classic Hits today. Some cuts from Talk packages of that era like Hot Buttons, Attitude Control, and Data Seek could also work for that purpose. And throw Evolver in there too (in fact I’ve heard some stations use beds from that package as weather cuts).
Another example is TM’s Mix 107.3 packages, which ended up working well for Classic Hits 94.7 The Drive in Washington DC. The WPLJ packages of the ’90s also got used on Oldies stations at the time, and could still work for Classic Hits today.
November 23, 2020 at 4:44 am #105417JustinSaysRadioAny theoretical examples?
November 24, 2020 at 1:04 am #105414JustinSaysRadioAny examples that have not been tried, but would still sound good, such as the WJXA 2004 package being used on an Urban AC station or Reelworld One AC on an Adult Top 40 station?
November 24, 2020 at 2:47 pm #105411ntcarver0MemberI always thought Hit Power/Hit Country, Hot Wired and Maximum Power would work well on classic hits stations depending on the playlist.
November 24, 2020 at 5:54 pm #105410glenWNSR Sports radio in Nashville is using Jam Top News package. The sign of excellent jingle aka JAM/TM is that can do jingle packages that multi functional. That is why they are the best!!!
November 24, 2020 at 9:24 pm #105408JustinSaysRadioAny hypothetical examples modern jingle companys, such as Reelworld?
November 24, 2020 at 11:34 pm #105407glenThere is more jingle companies besides RW, that are modern. And alot better vocals a instrumentation.
November 24, 2020 at 11:48 pm #105405mjb1124MemberBrandy’s Kick Up packages, which were originally intended for CHR, sound quite good on AC WNIC. I think Ignite KROC wouldn’t be a bad choice for an AC station that wants a more upbeat sound, either.

November 25, 2020 at 3:14 pm #105394glenPete ; Fingernails on a chalkboard is good term for RW also.
November 25, 2020 at 6:40 pm #105392JustinSaysRadioI just meant Reelworld as an example. I also was thinking about Brandy and WiseBuddah.
November 26, 2020 at 4:34 pm #105379ntcarver0MemberNot sure if this is the type of thing you’re looking for, but ReelWorld’s KIIS LA 2004 (CHR) was being used on WLTW New York (AC) in early 2019. You can hear those cuts as part of this montage.

That is a great example.

Kiss 2013Just curious: Do you have an aircheck of them using any of these packages, including their Reelholiday resing?
November 27, 2020 at 6:29 pm #83907mjb1124MemberNot an aircheck, but here’s a montage of their 2012 jingles.
November 27, 2020 at 6:41 pm #83906ntcarver0MemberWhat was B101’s format?
Edit: Right, I’m dumb. Google is my friend. WBEB is an AC station.

November 30, 2020 at 12:56 am #83941ntcarver0MemberHere’s an interesting one. TM’s Metroplex was originally demoed as a classic hits package, but now it’s listed on the TM Heritage page as an AC package. Uncountry uses the same backing tracks and is marketed at (surprise) country stations. As far as I can hear, the only differences between the packages are very minor changes in instrumentation, a change in logo, and what sounds like a slightly different vocal group.

November 30, 2020 at 10:39 pm #83957rock_n_richieMemberWhen I worked for Country WGNA-FM Albany, NY, in 1993-94 we used Thompson Creative jingles for the first time. WGNA used cuts from both Thompson Creative packages Houston Mix I & II, CHR packages for Mix 96.5 Houston. Thompson Creative also marketed those cuts on their “Country Jingles” CD Demo. It was know as “Albany’s Hot New Country”
Here’s the demo feating the WGNA-FM cuts.
