What are the worst jingles that have ever been recorded
To start things off I am going with RTE RADIO 2/2FMs very early jingle package
September 18, 2008 at 3:10 pm #62004nostalgieKeep things positive Markie; it is quite easy to produce bad jingles. That's why when we share recordings that we love, they almost belong all the time to the same “Top 10 studios” around the world…
But if you really want that I say something, I would probably chose the theme for Ontario Place (a remake from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper), a jingle poorly recorded and – strangely – broadcasted every summer in Toronto by major radio stations… (???) No need to say why I do not have this jingle in my collection.
September 18, 2008 at 4:15 pm #62009MarkieGOK I am sorry that that I may have sounded negative I suppose I was trying to put in a bit of humour into a debate.
Obviously I mean no offennce
September 18, 2008 at 5:15 pm #62013nostalgieThat's ok Markie, don't be sorry about that. It was only my opinion. Have a nice day!
September 18, 2008 at 5:59 pm #62016rsimpkinsHere's an entry for “worst jingles” – the original “Rock Shop” package. partly because of the technical quality of them (this is direct from a clone of the master DAT) and partly because when I was at the session recording them in 1992 I couldn't stop the drummer from adding a drum roll to the end of each jingle… he thought it was his job to make sure it was there each time… needless to say they didn't ever make it to air.
For the 99.9% of you who don't know what “Rock Shop” was, it was an overnight satellite radio service on Astra which filled the gap overnight when “Quality Europe FM” wasn't broadcasting. It was, ironically, the second biggest satellite radio service in the UK at the time, second only to Radio Luxembourg. It was rebroadcast on about 15 stations in europe overnight. All speech was recorded by an FVO onto cart with a “space effect” to make it sound like a robotic station. It ran for about a year I think – before an almost complete lack of any advertising whatsoever forced it to close.
Good fun doing it though
Here's the jingles, which only 2 people to my knowledge have ever heard before. One is me. The other is Geoff, who has the master. Geoff – if your master is better than mine let me have a copy!

Does this mean I have to dig out those Australian ones again!?! :^)
September 18, 2008 at 9:26 pm #62021GrahamCollinsThanks for the insight Robin – truly horrible. The mix is appalling and can't save the musicians (I use the term loosely) from making a real hash of it.
September 18, 2008 at 10:13 pm #62024nostalgieWixy: Are Australian jingles bad? I didn't know that… Do you have any sample? (I'm starting to like this thread finally – Curiosité, quand tu nous tiens!)

Same here Wixy…does it mean I have to upload the KLEI jingles from Hawaii again ?
I started a thread like this a while ago on Jinglemad.

September 19, 2008 at 11:42 am #62037nostalgiePlease David!!! KLEI Hawaii (I never heard before and would like to discover the “precious” package.)
Could you share with us, even if you posted before? (As you know, I am a member only since last May…)
September 19, 2008 at 2:01 pm #62040BarrasOkay Thierry, just for you…actually, even though I`m saying these KLEI jingles are some of the “worst” jingles I`ve heard, allow me to contradict myself by saying these are so “bad” they`re “good” !
I`m the radio ID collector who likes ALL jingles, its just the basic concept of a jingle (radio identification for the listener) that I enjoy and without sounding “over-the-top” I class radio jingles as an art form. IMHO much better listening to audio from JAM/TM/Reelworld/IQ Beats/Wise Buddha/Thompson Creative etc, etc, etc…than staring at a Picasso painting or listening to Mozart/Bach etc..!!!!!

September 19, 2008 at 2:59 pm #62042nostalgieOh my God! I've never heard something like this before. I especially “enjoyed” (having obviously the ability to find my pleasure anywhere) the first few cuts with that female voice coming directly from hell (she sounds like an opera singer trying too hard…).
Another thing that really amazed me with this package is that each cut has a scary “ambiance” combined with the narrator's voice and cheap sound effects — that were probably purchased in a $1 store!
Thanks a lot David! You make my day!
September 19, 2008 at 8:50 pm #62048RobWalkerMemberThose KLEI jingles sound a little like the 70's Star Trek TV theme.
Good stuff. Thanks David!September 20, 2008 at 12:54 am #62057nostalgieStar Trek… I think you're right Mr. Walker. Actually, I felt “spaced” after I listened to these cuts.
September 20, 2008 at 7:55 pm #62101IainJohnstonMemberJust for Thierry – the dubious delights of an Australian jingle! (and I DO have worse from Oz!!!)

In fact, I was reffering to the image song, which is not so bad Wixy. However, the above jingle — in the current thread — is worst; they probably spent only 5 minutes to write words on the music! (I am French, but thank God, I still have some ability to make out when a supposedly poetic English radio slogan is miles away from what we usually call “poetry”.)
Have a nice day and thank you so much for sharing this “faux pas”. I've really enjoyed! Well… in some way!
September 21, 2008 at 1:54 pm #62126GlennaMemberI thought it sounded like something off Most Haunted.
