Barras
Aircheckdownloads.com picked up on something recently about an American station using two jingle companies at the same time, WMGA in Hungtington, West Virginia are using LITEhouse for their main jingles but they`re also using JAM cuts too and I`ve just discovered that “92.7 The Wave” in South Central Kentucky are using jingles by JAM and TM.
Just out of interest, I was wondering whether other Jinglemadders can name stations past or present that have used two (or more) jingle companies on-the-air, at the same time ?
Here`s some from me…
BBC Radio 2 – Groove Addicts, Wise Buddah, S2Blue-PAMS
Great North Radio – JAM, TM
BBC Radio Newcastle – JAM, Century 21
Metro Radio – EMIson, Lindisfarne (pop group)January 27, 2012 at 11:53 am #81889MarkS
MemberGood topic Barras…
Capital Radio in the 70’s – Blue Mink, David Dundas, Chris Rainbow, Swingle Singers, Kenny Everett…. An eclectic mix, but all mixed well together on air.
3 FM in the Netherlands – Pure Jingles, Top Format, The Rocketeers

Nice one Barras!
We used to use JAM and Thompson at The Wave/Radio Wave. Plus at launch…Wish FM used JAM and MMI.

One more from me: WCAU-FM Philadelphia – JAM & TM

MemberNew Jersey 101.5 has always used sung jingles from JAM/PAMS and beds from TM. Now they’re new package of beds from TM includes one sung cut, which they are using along with the JAM stuff.
WCBS-FM has been mixing JAM and PAMS with some Frank Gari cuts for a long time, and was mixing all of them with Tony Griffin for a while too. One Griffin cut still turns up around Christmas. And I believe their sister station WFAN still mixes JAM and TM.
Also during the holidays, WMGQ uses a mix of Thompson and Reelworld (the rest of the year it’s just RW). WODS also used to have a holiday mix of JAM, Groove, and Otis Connor when they were still “Oldies”.

Sportsradio 66 WFAN in New York is still plugging along with cuts from JAM’s “New York Fan” package. They also use a TM custom jingle package called “The Fan” which was recorded about 9 years ago, but today they only use the Sports Update bed and a mixout of Cut 2.

WAKY in Louisville used JAM and some of the old PAMS news sounders and jingles and resings by JAM-PAMS.

MemberWLS – Pams & Thunder in 74-75, Pams & Sundance in 75-76. When they got Jam’s Class Action in 78, they used the Pams Series 49 ID for sveral months.

MemberWABC continued to use some Thunder cuts (such as the Dan Ingram show theme) after they got JAM. And I’m thinking that since they got cuts from so many companies in the mid-late 80’s (JAM, Sterling Sound, Frank Gari, Century 21, etc.), there had to have been some overlap.
KKLZ was using a mix of JAM, Reelworld, and Tony Griffin for a while. Not sure if that’s still the case – last time I briefly listened I only heard JAM, which is fine by me!

MemberLast time I listened to WCBS I heard the JAM cuts but also heard the Drake Series 1 news intro. I think this is the case for a few oldies stations i.e. hearing a couple of Drake cuts alongside TM on Majik 102.7 back in 2008. Does that count?
I have one of the Z100 PAMS jingles. It seems to stand out like a sore thumb compared to the others. Z100 – WHTZ!
Closer to home in 1989 Beacon used JAMs Turbo Z with a selection of the previous Alfasound / PAMS cuts that had been made a few months earlier. I think there may have been an EMIson / Yamco / Alfasound overlap too as the first Alfasound package was quite small.January 28, 2012 at 10:05 pm #81925jinglejoe

KUBE/Seattle had cuts from JAM’s “Hitradio 2”, “Hit After Hit”, “Red Hot”, and “The Flamethrower” as well as cuts from Thompson Creative’s “Seattle-Portland Package” in the 1987-88 time period. By 1990, KUBE was still using cuts from those same packages as well as more from JAM’s “Skywave” and “Warp Factor” and TM’s “Dallas Power”. I believe they’ve dumped almost all of their jingles when the station went Rhythmic CHR in January of 1992, with the exception of the TOH from JAM’s “Skywave” (cut#12).
Another “Z100”, (WJZR/Charlotte) mirrored the same jingle packages that Z100/NY were using in the 1984-85 time period and used them until the station went Classic Rock as WRFX in 1986.

I don’t know whether this counts, but a certain webstream is “mixing & matching”!

The professor is too modest to mention his own rado link, so I`ll do it !
IMHO the best jingle company combo is on-the-air at Skylab Radio with great jingles from JAM & TM…

MemberWKCI (KC101) in Hamden, Ct. used JAM Express Pak and TM Airworks at the same time in the early 1980’s. They sounded great together.

i dunno, but of course, i thought at a time, KIIS was also mixing Southern California’s KIIS and KIIS/90. that’s what i thought i remember from about 1993 or 1994/5, i remember hearing cuts from both turn up, KIIS was number 1 back then. and wasn’t there a TM and Johny Mann combo on Magic? and, i think when they were starting to adapt to TGP, WGCO savannah, GA was also using Jam.
February 25, 2012 at 6:52 pm #82344tyty21
also, that c21/jam KOST combo was used from about the late 90’s to about 2005.
