What an excellent range, depth and width of sound, and especially stereo “image”!

Not as “compressed” as many more “modern” jingle products either.

And I think The Professor will recognise the cut at 1:45 :)

      Thanks for posting Marc

I’m sure The Professor will recognise the cut at 0:43 too ;)

        Truly beautiful.

They have a really good organic and quite possibly timeless feel to them. Enough for Radio 2 to have them resung 8 years after originally released.

I cannot find demoes of this series anywhere online,

Look harder, they’ve been on the website for years:

              Magic Music packages

The only one missing is the first one, simply called “Magic Music”, which will be added soon.

I had a Magic Music cut sung once upon a time as a personal cut (before anyone knew what a personal cut was).

Sorry Jon, I was looking here :-)

                    http://www.jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl.php?fmt=1&stasearch=WMG

Oh, it’s because you restricted the search to just one format (AC). If you change it to “All Formats”, then all the WMGK packages will appear when you search for “WMG”.

Check out those awesome harmonies on “Tracy Carman” =D>

I wish I had purchased JAM cuts back in the late 1970’s early 80’s (instead of all those Alfasound Cuts!) :-))

I bet you got a beautiful accapella out of that one Tracy!

Indeed he did! I happened to be at JAM the evening Jon was mixing that personal cut, and was able to capture a brief part of the mixing on video. Jon is happy for me to post this short video – and as you’ll imagine this session was mixed with the technology of the day (1994), with an analogue desk/multitrack; JAM is a digital facility these days.

Looking at the meters, you can see that the first part of the jingle’s vocals are on three tracks to the left of the white clipboard, and the full TC acapella is on other tracks.

I’ve replaced the poor camera-mic audio from the first 2 lines of the cut with TC’s full cut from Soundcloud, but have left the Magic Music acapella in as Jon was listening to that, before TC’s acapella.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/cm8ruuqtgmcx5q7/TC_JAM_EDIT_mix.mov?dl=0 – probably better quality if downloaded to a PC rather than streamed.

[Tech note: shot on Hi-8 – good for its day, but far from HD! ARC’d to 16:9 ‘pillarbox’ a few years ago.]

I was just curious – did you have the whole jingle sung, or just have the end re-sung with your name?

The reason I ask is that upon closer listening (on headphones), the “Tracy Carman” vocals sound, and come in, much richer.

                              @rak – nice video clip :)

The whole cut was resung. The original vocals on the demo had Los Angeles vocals. My cut was sung in Dallas. The end tag with my name is more full and spread-out than the first half of the cut. Twenty years later, it’s still music to my ears!

                                    The acapella version. Outstanding vocals.

Great sings TC and Ron !

When was your re-sing done Ron?

I’ve spotted a few cuts which (maybe!) got their ‘inspiration’ from US hits that did not make it in the UK – by Jim Croce and Michael Murphy + a well known Joni Mitchell song.

                                        A BEAUTIFUL package….

Ron’s acappella is interesting because it sounds very much like Chris Kershaw in the group.
