Plus 3, Make It Mellow, The Music You Want, New York 97… never heard any of those. But I'll content myself with Cooljam for now, which until tonight I hadn't heard either 023 Make It Mellow – KMOX-FM St. Louis,MO 1978 *
032 The Music You Want, WGAR Cleveland, OH 1979 *
031 New York 97 – WYNY New York, NY 1979 *June 11, 2011 at 6:22 am #79248AndyWaltersMemberNew York 97 isn't really a package if it's what I'm thinking of. It's a 3 1/2 minute song. Very nice it is too. I must admit to adding it to my ipod for the New York trip in 2009.

"New York 97" IS a package, cut #01 is the long song and there are 20 cuts altogether in the package.
I recognize cut #16, I think it was resung for BBC Radio 2…

Sorry, I stand corrected.

Proof that the original version of this jingle did actually air!

Can just imagine the clock turning back and Len Groat Trentising a number of those !

What excellent audio quality too!
And has JMW done a remix or re-mastering of the demo cuts? – I'd swear Cut 10 sounds a little different on that synth bit at the start of the cut?August 22, 2011 at 6:07 am #80107945KBAYguyI'm noticing that too! The guitar track in the left channel is definitely more pronounced too!

No remixes. Just back to the original stereo master of the mixes, with a very small bit of limiting to make them sound better on the internet (which, sadly, is largely populated by small inadequate tinny speakers). Thank you for noticing the quality, we're rather obsessive about it!

Considering that some of these cuts must be the most-listened-to on the planet over the years (well, except for PAMS Series 27…maybe…), a lot of people must just about have every little nuance of them permenantly burned into their brain-cells!
PS – Jon, I hope that you've read "Bossjock"'s current thread about "What do you do with your Personal Cuts?", particularly Post #27 !

October 23, 2011 at 12:14 am #76949MorrisGreat to have the WLS versions in stereo, at last!
Thanks Jon!
October 23, 2011 at 12:26 pm #68372GrahamCollinsInteresting – careful listening reveals to me that only 3-cuts from Outstanding are actually in stereo. Funnily enough the ones that sing STEREO! All of the other cuts are still in mono. Presume this tied in with the station being one of the few broadcasting in AM stereo at the time.
I’m guessing that the package delivered to WLS was all stereo but for reasons discussed here before mono demos were much more likely to sound good and punchy in a variety of playback situations.
October 25, 2011 at 2:13 am #24043StarbrelzMemberOn the website page, Jon mentions they only mixed the 3 ‘Stereo’ cuts in stereo.
October 25, 2011 at 10:12 pm #71792GrahamCollinsWell considering I didn’t see Jon’s notes on the page, just went straight to the audio via the root directory I got most of it right !
