Jeezy peeps!
Some of these items have (usually) only surfaced via hissy cassette, dull or mushy artifacted MP3,
dodgy CD dubs or copies that really were intended to be embargoed, so its great to hear them properly.ESPECIALLY the “Originals” – many collectors might not be aware that many R1 custom cuts “made it”
into JAM series “custom” packages for other clients, especially USA stations. Thanks for posting these Jon – are there some more treats to come?
February 13, 2017 at 11:52 am #101229MarkSMemberThanks for taking the time to post these R1 jingles Jon – much appreciated!
February 13, 2017 at 11:59 am #101230gameswizardMemberCut #8
I meant, of course(!), cut #30 (Music Now)
Regardless, I see the details have now been corrected on the Music Now page
February 13, 2017 at 12:07 pm #101231OnyxPaulMemberThanks Jon
February 13, 2017 at 12:11 pm #101232rakMemberThanks, Jon. I’m sure I’m not the only one of us who’s been making up Live montages and segues by clicking the Play buttons, out of Cut order. Great stuff!
February 13, 2017 at 2:43 pm #101233Tazman1966Excellent Jon. Thanks for taking the time to upload these
February 13, 2017 at 6:06 pm #101234mjb1124MemberAwesome stuff. Thanks Jon!
February 13, 2017 at 9:26 pm #101235DuncanNewmarchMemberWhat can I say, I love them.
I clearly remember hearing what became Max Power #14 in 84 (I was 10) wearing stereo headphones. “Radio 1, 1, 1, 1” panning left and right. From that moment I fell in love with radio and more importantly with JAM jingles. I would rewind the cassette again and again, discovering something new each time-like the whistle that blows at the very end.
More than 30 years on I still get the same enjoyment from listening to them, which I do regularly. Thank goodness they’ll live forever online and thank you to Jon for creating little pieces of perfection.February 14, 2017 at 1:17 pm #101237LenGroatGood gosh! I was just about to go out and made the mistake of looking at JM – and it’s ‘manna from JAM heaven’..
Young Graham Collins and I have already scoured the later Radio 1 packages for additions to our next GEM package but might have to do a re-think + get more in the ‘Jingle Piggy Bank’ for an order VERY soon!

http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-Radio1Extras.php (most of these I never heard before)
http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-Radio1Originals.php (never knew some of these were custom for BBC)
http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-MusicNow.phpAn amazing collection: the jingles that defined Uk radio.
February 14, 2017 at 10:33 pm #101239m_hodgeyMemberThanks Jon; you made my day with these.
Especially good to hear all the Radio 1 jingle orphans which didn’t make it to a JAM syndicated package.
February 15, 2017 at 9:20 am #101240IanFJust to echo prevoius comments thanks Jon! Add to these other Radio 1 resings from other JAM packages and the wish list goes on….
February 17, 2017 at 10:42 pm #101247marcusTrack 27 in Music Now… Mike Collier doing his best Sting impression and just about nailing it..
February 21, 2017 at 11:46 pm #101258amigoMemberOne question about the ‘1 million watts’ cut. I remember hearing the ‘2 million watts’ version on air after a while. Was there a 3 million or 4 million version recorded?

I heard a 2 million watts for Tony Blackburn’s Pick Of The Pops on BBC Radio 2.
February 22, 2017 at 1:20 pm #101261GrahamCollinsRadio 2 only had a ‘two million watts’ version recorded to my knowledge – which is a daft thing to claim anyway. It was done with tongue firmly in cheek.
February 22, 2017 at 3:27 pm #101262jonnoMemberBBC Radio 2 VHF transmitters total ERP ~ 2,400,000 Watts but I didn’t count DAB transmitters, so two million is selling themselves a bit short.
Sheesh, that was plunging to new depths of anorakky nerdiness

There was definitely a 1 and a 2 million Watts cut for R1, there were no further iterations.

I am sure the Radio 2 version for Tony Blackburn was ‘1 billion watts’.
February 22, 2017 at 7:34 pm #101269IainJohnstonJust in passing…
Mrs J likes listening to Simon Mayo on Radio 2 – and at the back of 5pm tonight said presenter was
playing some old airchecks of himself on Radio 1 – with a number of classic R1 JAM cuts VERY clearly heard.I trust that the Beeb (once again (?)) will have a cheque in the post to JMW !

It was one and a half cuts, in a bad quality, very short clip of the intro to Simon’s very first show on Radio 1, when he stood in for Gary Davies in 1986. The reason for the clip was an interview Simon was conducting on the way voices change over the years. It was on at approx 5.20 if any one is interested.
February 22, 2017 at 10:12 pm #101271NickySMemberCan I just add my thanks to Jon for putting all the cuts up – they kept me going on a long nightshift the other day. I have a lot of R1 jingles but I have to say even I don’t remember hearing #123. I am however the proud owner of a personal cut of #53. I always loved the Going Live cut and Jon was good enough to dig it out when I asked about it. He really is “one of a kind”.

The audio quality was shockingly bad – as though it was recorded inside a toilet cistern as it was filling up.

Nicky I thought exactly the same about #123 and #119 I don’t think they ever aired in that format. To me though they sound like #18 from ‘the Ultimate One’ and other top 40 cuts from that package, I wonder if they were resung/re worked?
did you get a resing of the Going Live cut?…..enjoyed the Schofe on R1 at that time, I was fully hooked on the jingles as a young teenager at that point too taping them and ‘broadcasting’ them in my room as a budding presenter. I just wish my station had jingles like these now.
February 24, 2017 at 7:46 pm #101274NickySMemberI’d heard #119 before but not #123 and I asked someone who would know and they didn’t remember #123 so I do wonder if it ever aired or just sat on a JAM DAT tape. And yes I got the Going Live cut re-sung – just one of those R1 cuts that stuck in my head for years.
