Great to see lots of our favourite JAM Radio 1 jingles now presented in a cut-by-cut format:
1FM: http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-1FM.php
Closer to the Music: http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-CloserToTheMusic.php
The Ultimate One: http://jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-Ultimate1.phpThey all sound brilliant.
February 3, 2017 at 8:39 pm #101159m_hodgeyMemberGreat stuff, although Duncan pipped you to the post with this news yesterday:

“I wonder if Music Now will get the cut by cut treatment…? “Very good Gents!
They could even make a package that way…Oh, sorry! … #”WYNY, WYNY….”#February 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm #101172ratnobMemberAuthorThat comment, Iain, sent me back to ‘Double Plus’. I aways loved those jingles. I was in New York when they were playing, and the station sounded sensational. And there’s no slicker, funnier demo: https://www.jingles.com/audio/d_DoublePlus.mp3
February 4, 2017 at 2:23 pm #101173IainJohnstonOddly enough Geoff, there was a WABC…FM (which became WPLJ in the later 1970s but never became
a “proper” relay/translator of Music Radio 77 when AM was going downhill – probably a HUGE mistake
retrospectively…) and of course there still is WCBS…FM, yet “RCA” as most USA collectors would know
it never tried to make their New York City FM call WNBC-FM to have their “company name” in their FM call.103.5 seems to have been an unsuccessful frequency ever since “YNY” gave up MOR…?

I always like the WHYN/FM and WDRC versions. I’ll have to put together a short sampler…

Kids basketball comes first, though I’ve already edited down a few WDRC cuts for inclusion.

February 4, 2017 at 9:53 pm #101184PPMThat jingle sounds very familiar, was there a BBC Radio 2 version?

Well, well – I had forgotten that, but here’s my copy of the Radio 2 1982 package, including the cut you mention:
February 4, 2017 at 10:24 pm #101188PPMThank you, just listening to them now. Such classy jingles.
February 4, 2017 at 10:29 pm #101189IainJohnstonMy Gawd! A jingle package of MORE THAN SEVEN CUTS!
Who would have thought of that? What a bizarre concept!
Indeed very classy. Thanks for posting Geoff.
February 5, 2017 at 9:40 am #101194gameswizardMemberSome more Atlantida FM “Double Plus”…
February 5, 2017 at 11:01 am #101195DuncanNewmarchMemberAs impressive as the jingles are, I’m equally impressed that Jon has updated the R1 logos on each of the demo pages and more importantly, hasn’t used the incorrect/mocked 90-94 version that’s all over the web. For example: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/BBC_Radio_1

https://soundcloud.com/gameswizard/atlantida-fm-short-montage-double-plus-4-11-14-jam-creative-productionsFascinating. Doesn’t ‘FM’ take a long time to sing?
February 9, 2017 at 3:34 am #101220mjb1124MemberSome more of the KOST packages have also been adapted to the cut-by-cut format. Namely The Coast Experience and Keep On Coastin’.

February 12, 2017 at 8:19 am #101224ratnobMemberAuthorWell spotted, and they sound wonderful. Funny how cut-by-cut has changed the way we listen to jingles. G

Cut #8:
“MIKE REID, EVERY MORNING, MIKE REID, WITH MUSIC, MIKE REID ON RADIO 1, MIKE REID, EVERY MORNING, MIKE REID, WITH MUSIC, MIKE REID ON RADIO 1”It’s Mike Read, not Reid.
Mike Read is a DJ, broadcaster & presenter.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_ReadMike Reid was a stand-up comedian & an actor.
