JAM Creative Productions announced today that broadcast clients in selected markets will now have the option to order audio production using their on-air inventory as barter instead of paying with cash. JAM has concluded an agreement with Jones MediaAmerica®, the largest independent network radio advertising sales organization in the United States, to handle sales of the advertising time.
Jonathan Wolfert, president and co-founder of JAM, said: “Good programmers understand the value of a well-produced and memorable jingle package. But in today’s corporate environment, it’s often difficult for stations to find enough cash in the budget for self-promotion. That has resulted in some clients being forced to use fewer jingles, or use them for a longer period of time than they would like. JAM is very excited to now be working with Jones Media America, and we know that by offering our services on a barter basis, more stations than ever will have the flexibility to get the best-sounding and most effective jingles in the world on their air.“
“Jones MediaAmerica is very excited to welcome JAM Creative Productions into the network radio marketplace,†said Frank DeSantis, VP/Business Development of Jones MediaAmerica. “This is a great opportunity for us to work together to grow what has long been a very robust part of the radio landscape.â€
JAM jingles can be heard on stations of all formats, including WABC-AM/New York (News/Talk), WFAN-AM/New York (Sports), KOST-FM/Los Angeles (AC), WNIC-FM/Detroit (AC), KFKF-FM/Kansas City (Country), KXKL-FM/Denver (Oldies), XM, Sirius and thousands more. In addition to creating new, original custom jingles and commercials, JAM clients can choose from hundreds of syndicated jingle packages from the past three decades, including classic PAMS jingles made famous in the ‘60s and ‘70s.
Radio stations desiring more information about the JAM barter option should contact their JAM sales rep for details.

Yes it is. Hmm… JonesTMJamCentury(tm)? intresting
well i guess JonesTM Would Represent Jam just like jam did for the now Seriously oudated Pams
January 12, 2007 at 9:24 am #28448mbMemberJAM doesn't represent PAMS it is PAMS.
Well PAMS is 100% owned by JW / JAM.
Representation usually means acting as an agent for and therefore in this case would be inaccurate.January 12, 2007 at 12:03 pm #28452IainJohnstonMemberIn the early days (late 1950s/early 60s) didn't several jingle
companies (I'm thinking Pepper-Tanner and PAMS) do
airtime advert time barter in exchange for jingles, commercial
production, etc?As a current example, British radio programme producer and service
provider UBC Media uses airtime barter on networked radio in the
UK (mainly on AM / DAB stations)January 13, 2007 at 6:13 pm #28475JAM / PAMSMemberJones MediaAmerica is a network radio advertising sales organization. It is a separate company from JonesTM. They are both subsidiaries of Jones Media Group (JMG), but are operated independently. JMG also owns American Comedy Network, Jones Radio Networks and other companies too.
So no, JonesTM is not “representing” JAM. JonesTM has nothing to do with JAM, and vice versa. We are still doing our own sales. It's just that if a station wants to pay for their jingles with air time, we will use Jones MediaAmerica to sell that time to advertisers for us. That's all that's going on. No merger. No sale. No rumors. Sorry.
Also, Mr. Bolton is correct. JAM and PAMS are technically separate companies with a common owner (hello, it's us). We just happen to use the same staff and production facilities for both.

I wouldn't say that PAMS is seriously outdated – every jingle product has a market somewhere – and lets be honest – PAMS have never sounded as good as it does under JAM's overseeing eye.
January 14, 2007 at 11:20 am #28485johnnygI wouldn't say PAMS are outdated either, depends on the output of the station, but they still sound fantastic on oldies stations playing the music from that era. One of the few possesions I'd risk rescuing in a fire is my numbered PAMS box set !!
January 14, 2007 at 2:49 pm #28487BarrasWell said Johnny G…and just for the record, I have my numbered PAMS box set sitting side by side with the TM Box Set #1.
My individual “certified collector`s edition” of The Magic of PAMS is listed as “No. 0323”

January 14, 2007 at 3:53 pm #28488topcatHmmm… My Magic Of PAMS box set has #0007 on it. (chuckle). My TM Box sits on the shelf here as well… but ummm… has a few more disc in it than yours.
Once things have settled down here a bit more, we'll be releasing the CRC box which has been sitting here awaiting production for several months. Then we'll move on to a Tanner box and additional volumes of TM.
However, at this moment I'd just like to shake the stomach virus that has had us all down for the count this past week….!

January 14, 2007 at 4:12 pm #28489bruceupRegarding barter and radio jingles, it has seen a resurgence in the past few years, largely due to TM Century's partnering with Dial Global. It's getting increasingly more difficult to make cash sales of any kind to radio stations in the US; promotion budgets have been slashed or practically eliminated, and jingles are one of the first 'non-essentials' to go. Part of David Graupner's genius was to keep TMC's jingle division thriving through the US economic recession of 2001-2003 by offering jingles-for-time, utilizing the barter system already in place for their comedy service.
Regarding PAMS, while its sonic merits can be debated, it is a uniquely wonderful catalog of music that is worth its weight in gold (it’s the radio equivalent of owning the Motown catalog). Jon has what nobody else in the business does – the unabridged history of radio jingles, and acquiring it was a stroke of genius (I sure am generous with the genius awards today, aren’t I?).
