Are you sure that’s not actually a dire voice-tracked output?! Her voice sounds like she’s “detached” and “not there”, and indeed the timing is so bad a “live” presenter would surely understand the clashes? or worse, …”AnnaNova” for radio – wasn’t there a “text-to-DJ” software thing we discussed last year?
But good JAM cuts – and as ever JAM again able to acurately re-create today the original vocal sound.
April 11, 2012 at 10:51 pm #83544BarrasIt`s one extreme to the other at WKTN, here`s Nothing But Class #09 with the ending in-the-clear…

Thanks for the compliment, but those WKTN jingles were sung in 1989!
April 12, 2012 at 10:04 am #83557tyty21and it’s still getting air play, that’s what you call some class there! still works well after 23 years!
April 12, 2012 at 12:27 pm #83562IainJohnstonMember“… but those WKTN jingles were sung in 1989! “
Jon, I’m confused now! Are we saying they’re STILL playing the SAME package after twiddly-umpty years??? … or after an “interlude” of other products have they “recussitated” them from a shelf either at the station or from the JAM Reference Copy?
Whatever way, must be unusual for a station to come round asking for a “contract licence extension” on work produced for them so far back (and for some reason other than some special occasion e.g. a station anniversary?)

Oh, I don’t know… Have you heard WLS (AM) as of today?
April 13, 2012 at 10:43 am #83592BarrasThanks Jon for the WLS (AM) pointer and predictably I`ve been rolling minidisk on 890 WLS Chicago, seems like the production guys at WLS have a put a sound-effect in front of the old JAM jingles, here`s some airchecks of the JAM jingles and liners/sweepers too….
April 13, 2012 at 10:51 am #83593LenGroatThe new JAM custom is now airing on KBZN, and it’s probably the “hottest” sounding package JAM has done since Pro Choice way back in 2002 . It contains several of the elements from the Fresh N.Y. package – the “Now!” shout, the main sonic logo for “97-9”, the four-note synth melody, and the signature chime/harp-like sound. But the vocals are more energetic with a variety of different styles, and the tracks are more upbeat and modern with a mix of pop-rock and rhythmic tracks.
I’ve only just ‘seen and heard’ this new JAM package.
What struck me straight away is that it’s the ‘modern/ fashionable’ jingle construction, (for example) the cut at 1.08 – strong, full instrumental intro, male and female (solo) vocals, strong hard (but melodic) end.
It’s the same ‘formula’ used (for example) on the new ‘Free Radio’ jingles, and the GEM106 before that. BUT, the big difference is the musicality, melody, and clarity – and far less echo. I think JAM and/or their customer have listened to a few other packages from Seattle/British companies, and thought ‘we can do that, but BETTER’.. and they HAVE!
This style of jingle is not usually ‘my cup of tea’ but THESE are instantly memorable, the female vocals just superb… well done JAM
April 13, 2012 at 4:54 pm #83599mjb1124MemberI agree with Len on the KBZN cuts… as for WLS, great to hear them bring back to the classic stuff and the “89 WLS” branding (even though it confused the news anchor LOL). I guess we can add them to the list of stations using a JAM/TM combo since they still have the beds from “Attenuator”.
April 13, 2012 at 9:29 pm #83613mjb1124MemberOkay, it seems like the change in WLS imaging is a bit bittersweet as they also let go of their long-time imaging voice, Jeff Davis (who was also a jock in the “Musicradio” days). I knew they had changed the voice but hadn’t known about Jeff’s history with WLS. Seems counterproductive of them to bring back classic jingles, but change the familiar voice of the station. As great as the old cuts still sound, I’m not sure if the new spoken imaging gels with them. This all coincides with their 89th anniversary, by the way.
Here’s hoping Jeff Davis lands another gig in Chicago. Of course, he can be heard on other stations across the country, including WOMC Detroit which also uses classic JAM cuts.
April 17, 2012 at 4:25 am #69464jlehmannI just discovered tonight due to good reception conditions that 104.7 WBAK (Big 104 FM) in Bangor, ME is now using JAM WABC jingles. Sorry for the weak signal, but this station is 200 miles away, and rarely comes in. Unfortunately they don’t stream, or even have a website.
April 17, 2012 at 8:26 pm #83686tyty21you mean WABK? unless it’s a separate station.
April 17, 2012 at 8:58 pm #83687mjb1124MemberYes, it’s a separate station, though they’re both in Maine, have the same owner, and broadcast a classic hits format.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WABK-FMThanks for posting those Jeff… too bad the station doesn’t stream.
April 18, 2012 at 2:51 am #83697jlehmannYes they are separate stations. 104.3 WABK is in nearby Augusta, and (as far as I know) still uses TM jingles. Here’s one of theirs from tophour.com http://www.tophour.com/audio/Augusta%20ME/fm1043_2008-09_wabk-fm_jlehmann.mp3
April 18, 2012 at 5:10 pm #83714BarrasThanks for posting Jeff, “proper” jingle aircheck too, taken from the actual radio.

April 21, 2012 at 12:05 am #83768SeanMartinThe other word that comes to mind is . . . . NOISE
(And lots of it)!
April 23, 2012 at 10:49 pm #83799mjb1124MemberHopefully JAM is the secret ingredient for these Journey stations being sucessful, as the only one that wasn’t using JAM, 94.1 in Cincinnati, just flipped formats after only about 8 months!
Unfortunately it looks like Journey 100 in Pensacola, Florida is flipping to a simulcast of its sister talk station. So that’s two “Journey” stations down, two remaining. Hopefully the ones in Georgia and Alabama stick around a while longer.
April 26, 2012 at 10:13 pm #83817tyty21from a checkup i did on WROW, yes, they’re still using jam, and i think they have new cuts! can someone confirm? also, I think WWIK *the new fun 98.9 * a new classic hits station in Charleston, SC might have jam there, IDK, i heard shouts that sound like some of the jam singers, someone check this out!
April 27, 2012 at 2:52 am #83819Barrasre: WROW – So far I`ve heard “Do It Again”…
re: WWIK – Doesn`t stream in England UK
April 27, 2012 at 3:19 am #83820mjb1124MemberWROW was using select cuts from Do It Again before, along with Great Memories and some TM material, but it does seem like they’ve added some additional cuts now.
April 30, 2012 at 9:36 pm #83870BarrasThanks, they`re using #15 from JAM`s Do It Again for the weather and as you rightly say, TM`s Great Memories and others…
However, I think I just heard a Reelworld acapella !
So is WROW using JAM, TM & Reelworld ?
