Barras
It`s the first sung jingle I`ve heard with the “HD suffix” in the lyrics, I wonder if other American radio stations will have this sung for them ?
BTW in England and the rest of the UK, I haven`t heard any sung jingles with DAB mentioned !

Member“BTW in England and the rest of the UK, I haven`t heard any sung jingles with DAB mentioned”
Although Radio 2 have recently amended their top-of-hour presenter-live spoken ID to say “…On Digital RADIO”… rather than merely “On Digital”.
Since most DAB is either relays of FM or AM stations or somewhat-niche programming, why should they bother ID’ing DAB with sung wording (and singing the words out in full would be worse than the “Angus, Fife, Perth and Dundee” as mentioned on the Radio Tay comments this week… think how awkward the old “Gwent Broadcasting” lyric sounded some years ago – singing a technical phrase such as “Digital Audio Broadcasting” to any logo/melody and making it sound “tunefull” would be a challenge for ANY jingle composer (and its a good job the UK aren’t thinking of “D.V.B-T.2” or whatever the far-better-quality-than-DAB standard is!)
Yet when CD audio was appearing, replacing vinyl or carts on the radio, many stations had “CD Music” and similar lyrics on their jingles, and indeed one station renamed itself as “CD-603″…strange considering it was on 603 kHz AM!
Cue a montage of “CD lyrics” jingles anyone?

Member“CD”…first time I’ve heard it mentioned as “Cheltenham District” for “CD” in its name – bet that must have still confused the locals…wasn’t that the station that changed name so often and it finally ended up as Cat FM then ignomiously became part of the “Total Star” fiasco?

Member…and the initials “B o s s” (allegedly) stood for …. in reference to a certain bigger heritage station “along the road” in Gloucester! (..another “tagline” that no doubt didn’t get sung on any jingles…unless there’s an out-takes tape anywhere… @-) )

We mentioned 92.7 The Wave USA earlier in the thread, here`s some of my JAM airchecks of their current jingles…

that’s rare! moves like jagger plays after jam classic!

Well listened toTyrone, the other bizarre thing about this station`s identify on-air, something which aircheckdownloads mentioned earlier in the thread, the JAM cuts sing “92.7 The Wave” whereas the TM cuts sing “Wave 92.7” – can`t think of many radio stations world wide that do that, unless someone knows different !
March 2, 2012 at 10:29 pm #82464tyty21
i guess it still proves that a classic can be done in the right way for today’s sound. can’t keep the good sound down! WHVE knows how to do it right!

Thanks Tyrone…how about some Z102 in Savannah, Georgia USA, I think this is from the 1980s…(and a TM cut sneaks in there)…

At last!
I want to know more on how you did that please David! (‘cos S/cloud is space-limited…and “other sites” are similar or not free of charge…)March 6, 2012 at 2:42 pm #82593gameswizard

KBZN and WWRR are said to be using jam now.

Thanks Tyrone, out of 311,591,917 Americans, you remain my main source of letting me know which stations in the USA are using JAM !
JAM Archecking KBZN right now, will get some jingles uploaded soon….

MemberKBZN has been using the Fresh NY package for a while, and listening now, they still seem to be. Looks like we can expect a new package though. Johnny Hooper is listed as a writer – wonder if he still does work for JAM, or if it’s a resing of an older package.

Thanks mjb1124…as promised here`s my JAM Aircheck of KBZN, love the JAM sing on the TOH i.e. “Salt Lake City”…

nice dave! i figured it would be that package! what about KOSP, and WWRR.

MemberHere’s a bunch of imaging from KOSP, “Star FM” in Springfield, Missouri. All of you anti-sweeper folks will like that they incorporate elements of their jingles in practically all of their imaging (similar to what Sunny FM Orlando also does). It’s mostly a Home of The Hits/Positron mix as far as I can tell, but the weather cut is from Do It Again, and part of the LogoSet laser shotgun can be heard in one of the sweepers I recorded.
March 12, 2012 at 7:40 am #82660tyty21
niiiiiiiiice! very niiiiiiiiiiice! like how you put those 2 jam creative sweepers before the actual imaging.

MemberThere is nothing special about the KBZN Fresh NY audio posted above as the vocals are weak.
Played in succession like that the “NOW” grates and all sound the same with hardly any variation. I heard this package being used in NYC and I can see why WWFS didn’t have them on the air for long as this package burns quickly.March 12, 2012 at 5:31 pm #82666mjb1124
MemberAcually, WWFS used the package for about three and a half years, which I would say is a decent shelf life. Personally, I like the JAM Fresh jingles, but admittedly they wouldn’t work too well with the current sound of Fresh 102.7. I am interested in hearing what the new JAM jingles for KBZN will sound like – maybe an update of the “Fresh” sound?
March 13, 2012 at 7:31 pm #82683Barras
To mjb1124: I tend to be one of those “anti-sweeper folks” but this is a good example of how sung jingles and sweepers can work well together, of course, with JAM jingles !
Thanks for JAM Airchecking KOSP Springfield, love this type of imaging, good use of acapellas too.

Hi Tyrone,
have you got a link for WWRR and where is it ?
I found a “WWRR” in Scranton PA, it`s an AC station, using sweepers/liners, haven`t heard any JAM jingles, also found a “WWRR” in Jacksonville but no audio link ?
March 14, 2012 at 9:07 am #82693IainJohnston
MemberWWRR Jacksonville is now WMUV (WWRR calls dropped in 2005); the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre one is the current owner of the call-letters.
A useful place to look for in-current-use USA Call-signs (and even just explore!…) is the FCC website, e.g. …
http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/fm-query-broadcast-station-search
(I think that quite a few of us would have liked access to such a treasure trove of station info back in the old “writing-to-stations-and-scrounging-tape-dubs-of-their-jingles” days!)
March 14, 2012 at 7:09 pm #82703mjb1124
MemberThis is the current WWRR, “105 The River”. I also only heard sweepers when I listened, but I’m guessing the new JAM jingles will begin airing soon.
March 15, 2012 at 8:00 am #82716mjb1124
MemberThe new JAM custom is now airing on KBZN, and it’s probably the “hottest” sounding package JAM has done since Pro Choice way back in 2002 . It contains several of the elements from the Fresh N.Y. package – the “Now!” shout, the main sonic logo for “97-9”, the four-note synth melody, and the signature chime/harp-like sound. But the vocals are more energetic with a variety of different styles, and the tracks are more upbeat and modern with a mix of pop-rock and rhythmic tracks.
I haven’t fully formed an opinion on this package yet, but it’s nice to see a station ask for something different from JAM in 2012. It seems like we’re seeing a trend of smaller-market stations reaching out to them for customs – first WDRC-FM and now KBZN.
