It seems the old Jam airchecks thread has been quiet. I thought I’d revive the thread, but make a fresh new start. while looking through the ascap database, I found 6 new guys, aside from the usual suspects. montages to come throughout tonight and tomorrow.
Jam is back in Nashville’s backyard with WHPY in Bellview, TN
They’re now back in Omaha after a few years, now can be heard on 1490 the boomer KOMJ
They’re now in the Atlanta suburb of Winder on WJBB
Back to Tennessee, the west end near Union City/Jackson, their’s WHPP Humbolt. To Gaffney, SC at WZZQ
and finally to the mountains in Utah on KYMVOctober 9, 2015 at 8:25 am #98608tyty21here’s a short sampler of the jingles that can be heard on 104.3 WZZQ in Gaffney, SC. feel free to add on!

I still have a few of those fuzzy cassettes. So many of these packages are still 100% fresh it’s no wonder they are being sung overandoveragain !
Any North American Jinglemadder who can record local airchecks I’d love to hear the JAM cuts from Oldies stations in particular.
Thanks – Len

well… do I have 2 great stations for you!! WMVO in Mount Vernon, Ohio and WTTF in Tiffin, Ohio. Both using a composite you won’t believe. Won’t tell what it is… let’s just say, it’s not the average composite that Classic hits/oldies stations pick out today.

Someone recently suggested that JAM’s main vocal sessions these days are (usually) on Thursdays… (and I believe KenR was Mondays…)
At their busiest, 1980s/90s, can Jon say what the “studio load” was like ? :^)
October 9, 2015 at 10:49 am #98619LenGroatTyTy: thank you – look forward to hearing them – Love the name of the Tiffin place – it’s a kind of snack in the UK, a very old fashioned word!

Sounds like PAMS to me – but (oops) I don’t recognise the package.
I guessing it’s JAM re-creating the sound!?
October 9, 2015 at 3:38 pm #98628tyty21I know, for WMVO, 2 of them. they featured a Pams WCBS grid, (not goldmine or gold evolution.) another was a cut from one of pams last few series, 47, perhaps? the others were from a pams late 60’s early 70’s grid. All were jam vocals, though
October 9, 2015 at 4:21 pm #98629mjb1124MemberI had heard some of the WTTF cuts before, and was wondering about the source of them myself. I did recognize one from a PAMS WCBS-FM package as you said. I was particularly curious about the last cut in the WTTF montage, which I also heard (along with the same weather cut WTTF uses) around the same time on “Real Gold Radio” WAXT.
I believe that both WTTF and WMVO use Westwood One’s syndicated “Good Time Oldies” service – could this be a composite for them? Some could be related to Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel as well – a few of the WMVO cuts use that lyric, and I know Jon posted a TOC cut in a montage a while back that had a similar feel. Then again, I don’t think WAXT was/is affiliated with either, as their playlist went very deep when I heard it.
Also, I already added it to the SoundCloud channel, but I might as well post it here too. WCBS-FM is using the famous Turbo Z TOH now, complete with the “serving the universe” lyric. I haven’t heard any other new resings, but I will keep my ears peeled.

October 9, 2015 at 5:34 pm #98631tyty21Well, MJB, long time no hear! where ya been! I know for one, WTTF and WMVO are sisters, both owned by BAS broadcasting. so that might just be the case. speaking of which, there are 3 others using the TZ TOH. KEYF, WHPY, and WSNN, (in a certain someone’s former work location… does WNTC ring a bell?)
October 10, 2015 at 12:48 am #98634michiMemberWhen I was in the Catskills for the Grassroots Radio Conference, oldies station WGNY-FM was running JAM sung PAMS cuts. I know another station in that area that may get PAMS cuts.. (I can’t disclose who they are yet..)
November 6, 2015 at 5:27 pm #98876tyty21here’s more jam, on a hot AC. WNOI Flora, IL. It’s a little out of the box choice for this type of station, but I love it!
November 6, 2015 at 11:45 pm #98878LenGroatThanks TYTY: Great to hear the whole ‘Do It Again’ package re-sung. One of my very favourite JAM packages – it’s timeless and fits so many formats- and perfect for Oldies.
