JAM from 1985 today on Radio 2

      To celebrate Back to the Future day today, how wonderful to hear some JAM from 1985 out of the 8 o’clock news this morning on Radio 2. I’m racing the boys to school, can anyone get the audio please? “Every morning it’s just for you…”

                Whilst this might be a controversial comment with some, I have to say I do prefer those 1985 JAM jingles to the ones on air now. I think they sound brighter and listening to certain American stations playing similar music to Radio 2 I think they could easily still work on air today.

                    I have to say I do prefer those 1985 JAM jingles to the ones on air now.

                    That dumb Radio 2 voiceover that was played after them proves they are by far superior.
                    They would definitely work on air today… and would do in another 30 years too.

                        I’m usually listening to GEM of course Graham but it really did make my morning hearing those. I was already feeling quite nostalgic because of BTTF. Great Scott!

                          I think nostalgia tints the views here – Radio 2 I love those jingles but that’s not the station sound now Radio 2 – maybe in some people idealistic heads but whilst Radio 2 plays a variety of styles and genres its not an old sounding station.

                            A Nice jingle Graham :-) and good to see BBC Radio 2 using one of OUR Solid Gold GEM AM jingles!

                            As regards whether the 1985 JAM jingles would ‘work’ on Radio 2 now, they certainly are tighter/ more fluid, have more variety of tempos/transitions than the Wise Buddha set, which are more like mini songs, and sometimes only get played twice an hour – surely that fact speaks reams about them?
