“Ya gotta walk before you can run”–maybe these are the “baby steps” that will help “connect” the station to more listeners…

WPLJ’s last program director Dave LaBrozzi has now taken the reins of WABC, and just like with PLJ, he’s reached back into the jingle vault. They’re brought back a news sounder from Top News and a traffic sounder from AmeriTalk. Not a whole lot in terms of sung jingles so far, but I’ve heard a few “Talk Radio 77” sings from TalkTrax (I think). There’s also a PAMS “WABC” sing they’ve been ending promos with for a while, I think it’s taken from the Series 14 “get up and go go go” cut.

Of course, this won’t do anything to help the station’s flagging ratings, but it’s nice to have a little more JAM on the NYC airwaves anyway.

        Any tape “available”?

I’ll have to roll cyber-tape on the station soon (though the weekend might not be the best time due to the overabundance of infomericals).

cumulus owns wabc. cumulus owns tm.
the ‘wabc’ sing I heard is “pams-ish” but is new and from tm. the same for those new sonos running on wabc. tm has also cut new sings for wjr in the style of wls’s

I haven’t heard any sono cuts on WABC. I’m aware of the Cumulus/TM connection, but the news and traffic sounders I heard are definitely from JAM packages.

From the short TOH sequence, I heard a PAMS cut and a JAM news sounder. Didn’t notice TM, but I’ll listen closer next time.

listen with a sharp ear. remember there were pepper –pams sound-alikes (thunder productions)– on abc. as for the sonos? you gotta listen more often. heavy use midnight to 6 on promos. a 77 sono and a wabc sono, both new. there are sung wabc cuts (new) and very much tm done in the old music radio style

I’m not usually up that late, so haven’t noticed.
