…OK a bit of an exaggeration! But today Steve Penk must have found a C D of his old breakfast show jingles and realised he could still use them on his mid morning show as they are sung “Steve Penk in the morning”. Unfortunately he only used the same one throughout the show, and it’s most likely today was a one off but it was quite a novelty to hear a JAM jingle on the air- it’s the first JAM I’ve heard on the radio in a long time! I thought it sounded great- It certainly made listen up when I heard it the first time.

Here’s a recording I made, and doesn’t this Z World cut segue brilliantly into Keane!

Go on Steve, You know you want to play some more for us tomorrow!

Out of interest how long does JAM licence a jingle to be used on air for? The one above was produced 8 years ago in 1996.

Typically the license for a jingle lasts for 1 year. If it is a custom produced package, the station owns the rights to that package forever. However, if it is a studio dragonfly resing, I think they come with a 10 year license or something.

Wey hey – wish I’d been at home listening when that was played!

Although I quite like the current Music4 jingles Key103 have on, you just can’t beat JAM!

Perhaps he’s had that one cut re-licenced? I remember Minster FM putting some of cuts from their second JAM Jingle package (1994) back on air around 2000, presumably they had to do that?
