One little error that Jon may wish to correct…
I noticed on cut #6 lyrics:
“WEEKEND MUSIC POWER, POWER 95 FM”
It should be:
“WEEKEND MUSIC POWER, POWER 95”.March 21, 2018 at 6:33 am #102701JAM / PAMS
MemberIt should be:”WEEKEND MUSIC POWER, POWER 95″.
Fixed. Thanks.

Why bother?
Are stations buying these now dated packages?
Or is it just to serve us radio geeks?
Before you restrain and hang me in public, I love JAM as much as everybody but who is buying these jingles?
I might be wrong but its a lot of effort for little or no return.March 21, 2018 at 4:36 pm #102704mjb1124
MemberI’ve seen some new (classic?) country, ’60s-based oldies, and soft AC stations on the ASCAP listings for JAM, so someone must be buying them. I guess they still work well for gold-based niche formats.
Beyond that, it could just be a “labor of love”, so to speak. Jon does seem to have an appreciation for the fans/collectors. They’re obviously not as busy as they used to be with clients, so they might as well put effort into something.

Surely JAM would be out of business by now if WAVA’s comments are right but they are not. Just because it’s not as widespread as Reelworld doesn’t mean they aren’t busy or have customers. True the workload may not be the same as it was 20 years ago but JAM still survives and Jon does not have to justify that to keep us lot happy…..or in some cases smug. The homepage still displays worldwide radio and TV stations on various formats still using their product as well as PAMS material….and not every station is listed either.
Another thing, from this angle, the cut by cut packages are being slowly done as and when by the looks of it. If all were done by now, Jon would be accused of having too much time on his hands……he can’t win whatever he does! lol

MemberIf I win the lottery, I will be asking Jon for a new custom package for J1.

Exactly ! How can anyone believe that someone who has 100s of packages, still extant and in GREAT quality, from the 2 most successful jingles companies ever could have any problems?
Jon does jingles as he LOVES and KNOWS them inside out and back again.
I don’t think the ‘return’ is what matters… it’s the creation that does, and like many people in radio, ‘retirement’ is a notion that defies age….
…and the jingles are timeless, like the songs they work SO well with

I do not know Jon except through jingles; but he reminds of somebody who is purposeful, deliberate, perfectionist, and schwed businessman. Who grew up through the ranks with the teachers Merriman,Meeks and probably alot more. And has had singers were are still the best. Including the one who just retired. Think of all singers he has had and still does employ. He has learned from too. Jam is still number one. One should read into something that may not be there.

I miss JAM. It seems like a lot of real exitement in station ID’s is gone. Although I deeply respect any creative, it sounds that all other companies lean to ‘modern’ production and in that way their cuts lack musical hooks, memorability and therefore multilayers that make jingles timeless and interesting to listen to.

MemberPlus, unlike the stuff that’s created today.. the JAM and PAMS material (I will even lump Thompson in there) can stand the test of time. I just added Breakthrough #1 to J1 and it sounds as good now as it did in the late 80s. I do miss Thompson though.. I wish they were still around so I can get personal cuts from them.

MemberJon…Could you possibly upload the original (un-cut) “You’ve Got It” Demo to the JAM Site……..
What I loved about that demo was not only the great Jingles BUT the analogy about Coca Cola/Pepsi/7-up……….So true in today’s Radio!!!!Thanks,
Pete

I couldn’t see it when I looked on “All the Demos” download page!March 23, 2018 at 9:16 pm #102724mjb1124
MemberI remember there was an error with the site a while back that caused it to revert to an earlier version, and some demos that had recently been added disappeared from the list. I guess You’ve Got It was never re-added, but I see the link still works.
As far as Thompson personal cuts go, perhaps they could be ordered through Bruce Upchurch (Zone/Music Oasis)? Or through Radioscape, in the case of the ones Johnny Hooper produced?

I noticed on the following page, http://www.jingles.com/jam/radioids/KeepOnCoastin.php, that both the JAM Logo and page header are both missing:For comparison, the 1 FM page, http://www.jingles.com/jam/radioids/1FM.php, looks like this:
