Lots of you no doubt have a dub of this in your collections already
but for those that don’t or those that would like an original.. you might get this for a song?
February 7, 2016 at 5:16 pm #99421jonnoMemberAuthorWent for £18 in the end.
February 7, 2016 at 6:33 pm #99422IainJohnstonBargain though!
I’ve a “copy” but the file seems to be much bigger than “normal” CD size somehow…?February 7, 2016 at 6:42 pm #99423jonnoMemberAuthorI snapped one up a few years ago for less than a fiver
February 7, 2016 at 9:04 pm #99425DuncanNewmarchMemberThere’s money to be made! Problem is, I like to keep the original discs even if they’re copied on the hard drive. Which would you consider selling? I suppose the old Alfa CD’s, Jingles 3, Countdown numbers/years. I have half a dozen JAM demo CD’s still wrapped up. Bizarrely I have two copies of Digital Mix, one has a black cover and the other is blue!?
February 7, 2016 at 9:22 pm #99426mbMemberI had 2 copies of the Invicta CD taken when I was burgled in 1993 – I was fortunate to replace them as they still had a couple left ( it was before I knew David Arnold sold them )
February 7, 2016 at 9:56 pm #99427IainJohnstonAnd they still sound damn good today!

February 8, 2016 at 12:11 am #99429mbMemberI got some of the cuts resung by iJingles before they closed – They’ve actually grown on me over the years and I think a lot of those Highway 21 / other package still sound great today.
February 8, 2016 at 10:30 am #99431IainJohnstonRak – that is indeed a spot-on description of the copy I have – its Embargoed so I can’t say who gave me the dub…. ;^)
I have a track-by-track WAV dub of the “public CD” too.
And a few of my own mini-airchecks on cassette of them on-air.February 8, 2016 at 2:25 pm #99433Media Preservation FoundationMemberThe full package featuring all mixouts and the jock cuts not included on the CD above is available as a wav download from the MPF for those that don’t have a copy.
February 8, 2016 at 8:53 pm #99436IainJohnstonSince we’re here…
To summarize what proper “available to listeners station jingle CDs” from that era are definately “known about” and copies extant:-
I know of (“southern England stations”):-
David Arnold – Radio Mercury
Invicta FM – Century 21 etc as discussed above
Premier/Delta JAM WNBC and Alfa – 2 CD setAlso Lantern FM in Devon, although that was cassette.
Can this list be expanded Gents?
February 8, 2016 at 9:01 pm #99437mbMemberKey 103 – Opening package

Radio Mercury
210 FM
Spectrum 558
London Talkback Radio

February 8, 2016 at 9:01 pm #99438mbMemberDavid Arnold sold station ID CDs along the TM Century Demo CD’s / David Arnold Best jingles CDs

I’ve got both copies too – I believe the black one is an Alfasound re-press of the original black JAM demo CD.
February 9, 2016 at 12:40 am #99441DuncanNewmarchMemberThat would make sense Mark, I picked up the black one from St Martins studios

February 9, 2016 at 1:47 pm #99443IainJohnstonWhat contents are the 210 FM and the Buzz FM?
February 9, 2016 at 1:54 pm #99444RobinBlamiresThe 1989 composite by Century 21 (Madison Avenue, Pro Basics, Steamroller etc) for 210, and the C21 custom for Buzz FM.

The copy I purchased from David Arnold – £9.99 I think I paid – turned defective within a short space of time, resulting in playing consisting of error correction clicks throughout playback of the enitre CD (even though to the eye the playback side looks flawless).
Fortunately, I made a high quality copy to Type II cassette on the day it arrived.
After copying to computer, correcting the playback pitch (using a track from the CD as reference), I put together a montage 3 years or so ago.
For anyone who hasn’t heard it:

https://soundcloud.com/gameswizard/invicta-fm-1990-alternatesFebruary 9, 2016 at 9:34 pm #99446IainJohnstonGW, just shows that proper “jingle packages” were just that – a distinctive “station sound” with cuts/alts for every occasion – and not just a miserable “eight exciting themes reflecting the music we play” (no, I won’t mention the latest (insert “woah” here) custom effort I’ve heard just this week…)
A quick scan of my drives reveals I’ve only got a handful of the 210fm TM/C, and in N&pst*r era mp3 – being 400 miles from where all the Arnold clients were in the southern half of England/Wales, to this day I’m still “learning” about what many of those packages were like, whether his original custom work or TM/Century/etc resings!

Email tracy@jingles.org and he can get you details.
February 10, 2016 at 12:32 pm #99452IainJohnstonConsidering the amount of TM/C DATs etc transposed at MPF (and bucketloads still pending), a concise rolling-update list of “availables” to Collectors rather than ploughing through the individual “Basics” offerings would be a boon TC,
even if just a UK “subset” :^) -
