Someone should send a copy of the montage along with the sales numbers from the fire sale rush of iJingles orders to the WW1 brass and show them how successful iJingles can be if given the right support.
February 17, 2015 at 12:36 pm #97190simon_t123MemberMaybe the powers that be can open iJingles up seasonally, say a couple of times a year to see the parent company thru those ‘quieter times’ … I can’t still see the business sense of not continuing to support what always seemed like an ever-growing group of non-commercial jingle buyers in an era when jingle purchasing from corporates isn’t exactly their top priority … It’s $225 a pop or whatever the latest iJingles rate was, so surely that’s $225 per jingle or per unit, however the powers that be accounts, and as these are resings of off the shelf products surely that’s a cash cow !!! I speak frankly of course but I’m frustrated that iJingles is no more, if funds allowed (which they haven’t of late) I was always eager to expand on my collection of cuts from “The Bee” and various “Lite FM” packages for a couple of my internet projects until I had the whole package of each … I love the JAM product & could go there but I’ve brought exclusively the TM product (ok, with various from Bespoke Music but the days of their £100 a cut offer has been £300+ a cut for a long time now and sadly Ben Freedman is no longer with us for matching cuts from that good man) … I appreciate business decisions, it’s just frustrating ! Maybe there is too much work working out the vocal scores for many single cuts etc ?
February 17, 2015 at 11:48 pm #97199LenGroatCongratulations Linden – good to hear the ‘torch’ of classic jingles being passed on to a younger generation!
February 18, 2015 at 12:01 am #97200michiMemberOur last iJingle and in the spirit of JAM’s Best Show 2, there are two different versions (actually 4 once I am done remixing)..
Big Time Radio – Cut 1 – for J1 Radio:
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloudThank you Sean and the rest of the TM gang for keeping this program alive for this long. I am hoping someday that the suits at WW1 realizes the importance of iJingles and perhaps with some tweaks, it could be reintroduced with a slightly more profitable business model.
February 18, 2015 at 2:37 am #97204michiMemberMixouts that did not come with the original delivery.. definitely getting a lot of mileage of $400 worth of jingles…
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloudFebruary 18, 2015 at 5:20 pm #97206mbMemberThe wait for delivery is killing me
February 18, 2015 at 5:59 pm #97208michiMemberNice one Michi… Can I ask a question about the cuts? – What does the end lyric translate to?
The last lyric “anata ga suki” あなたが好き translates literally to “likes you” or “loves you”.. which goes on J1’s English slogan “J1 Loves You”. I used this slogan because other translations of J1 Loves You into Japanese would be more intended to be a romantic kind of love. The phrase “anata ga suki” is a contraction of “J1 wa anata ga suki” J1はあなたが好き which is closer to a true translation of “J1 loves you” as we had done in the recent KZZP cut 4 jingle done for J1:
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloudThe first BTR cut mentions various landmarks in Tokyo including the Tokyo Tower where all of the analog TV stations and FM stations would operate from (with the conversion to digital, the TV stations moved over to the recently built and much taller Tokyo Sky Tree), the Meiji Shrine.. a beautiful and peaceful place in Yoyogi Park. It also mentions the landmark Rainbow Bridge and Shibuya 109, a tall cylindrical shaped building that is one of Tokyo’s trendiest shopping malls. The second cut talks about the maid cafes in Akihabara (often referred to only as “Akiba”). Akihabara is also known as “Electric Town” as for many years was the home of all of the shops for purchasing electronic parts and later computers. The maid cafes were opened to attract the young male crowd that were already in the area. The cut also mentions Harajuku, one of the trendiest fashion areas of Tokyo (and where I spend a lot of time when I am there) and the fashion style called “lolita” which consists of Victorian inspired fashion. There was going to be a third cut but I had no budget for it. I will be getting a lot of mileage out of this cut like I do all of my cuts. There are currently over 200 different jingle variations on J1 based on editing these cuts together and including other material. It’s worth it.

February 19, 2015 at 7:01 pm #97214SpoonsLoving these latest cuts!
February 20, 2015 at 8:44 am #97222mbMemberMy first choice was the infamous you song – which I understand was not part of the planned package but added on. The “be your special friend” cut. However it appears that the tracks for this cut are nowhere to be found. I was so totally gutted as that cut is ,I think, my favorite cut of all time. So there was a hasty review of the you catalog. I mentioned the You II and You III packages to Sean and I think he had a cold sweat hahahahah -Even know I think people hear You III and think what the &^%$! I’m so happy with the above cut especially as I was very keen on the inference on the “The” I thought the We Are The home of classic Hits works really well, is nice and clear and a bit different.
February 20, 2015 at 10:16 am #97224LenGroatMB: nice lyric and re-sing ! I know another Jinglemadder who got this very recently – I’m sure he’ll post his version here as well !
The “be your special friend” cut was my favourite also – it ‘inspired’ a song from our 1985 Alfasound Trent package
Our last buy from iJingles/TM will be on ‘our’ thread very soon… after we launch it on air
February 20, 2015 at 1:21 pm #97227pvankleiMember@LindenWade and @MB very nice ‘YOU’ resings. The ‘YOU’ package was one of the first packages that triggered me to collect jingles. I heard it on a red LP with jingles from radio stations around the world. The ‘be your special friend’ cut#14a is also a very nice one. This is the only cut that is marked on the original lyricsheet as TM/YAM. I am wondering what YAM means.

:< )February 20, 2015 at 3:08 pm #97229SpoonsInteresting. I was also going to enquire about the special friend cut – glad I didn’t in the end if it wasn’t available. Always loved that cut though.
February 20, 2015 at 3:12 pm #97230GrahamCollinsOK, I give in – what’s the story with the ‘Special Friend’ cut that people are alluding to ?
February 20, 2015 at 3:17 pm #97231RobinBlamiresI’m guessing it’s this one…

My demo copy of “You” doesn’t have the cut numbers announced so if anyone can correct me, that would be good too.
February 20, 2015 at 3:21 pm #97232SpoonsThat’s the one. Also the lovely Beacon version at 2.25 here: https://m.soundcloud.com/radiooffair/beacon
February 20, 2015 at 3:49 pm #97233GrahamCollinsAha, thanks Robin and Christian – I have heard this before. A little too much cheese for me if I’m being honest…. probably why I couldn’t recall it !
February 20, 2015 at 5:07 pm #97236Tracy CarmanMemberI am wondering what YAM means.

February 20, 2015 at 8:07 pm #97239IainJohnstonOr was “YAMCO” named after “Y-A-M” then?
Just a thought…Have had a quick skim through my mixes from Sean & iJingles – sounding very “TM” indeed, especially the vocal versions NOT sung by […] ;^)
Will get a better listen later, but sounding fine so far…February 20, 2015 at 9:06 pm #97240SpoonsI’ve got some of mine today! Might wait til

Spoons? Post !
It looks like the ‘iJingles/ TM TsunaMi’ of jingles is about to flow!
Can I just observe that the Beacon jingles from 1976 were as good as it got at that time if you used a UK jingle company. BUT although they bought the original parts of the arrangements and vocals to re-record them in the UK the Musicians Union members did not even attempt the ’14 part’ melody (in 3 seconds) of brass/trumpet notes under the first ‘Threee’ of Beacon 3 oh 3′ on the ‘lost’ jingle.
That is what has always distinguished the US musicians from the UK ones as regards jingle tracks – I’m talking live instruments, not digital here. I do recall in the early 80s we had to ‘push’ some of the Manchester musicians to play what Alfasound’s Alan Fawkes had written for brass parts on some cuts – and resorted to getting them playing it half-speed and then doubling the tape speed
