      That’s a NICE cut – almost a Z100 ‘song’ ….as it’s not 4 seconds long!

What package was it from originally?

It was a custom in a set of add-ons for Simon Mayo around early ’93. Wasn’t played on air too often from what I remember. Ended up in the demo for “Closer To The Music”.

Thanks Robin – I stopped listening to UK radio around that time so missed that package!

To clarify there wasn’t ever anyone called June in the breakfast crew was there ??? lols ;) the lyric is “Simon, Diane, Rod and You” isn’t it ? or have I gone completely mad ???

R1 JAM jingles were the sound I grew up on … so many great Dallas cuts in ’88 then the sometimes edgier vocals & tracks in ’90 ’92 & ’94, some with JAM using singers from LA (I’m sure I read somewhere) … there’s a wealth of top class jingle history there :)

I heard a clip the other day on Radio Rewind where the Breakfast crew call Rod McKenzie the newsreader live on air. The crew take it in turn to say hello to Rod and Simon say’s “June is here”. i don’t know if that was an in joke!

Here’s the clip, but unfortunately they didn’t play the jingle to him down the phone

Oooh … it could be an in joke ! I thought it was just the three of them, but maybe there was a BA or producer named ‘June’ :) I’d have a look at the JAM lyric sheet on jingles.com but I think it’s already been said this is possibly a top-up cut …

*** Update … found it on the ‘Closer To The Music’ Lyric sheet …

And as was noted in yet another thread, once Simon Mayo had spotted that it sounded like ‘June’ and not ‘you’, producer Ric Blaxill took on the mantle of ‘June’ in the zoo…
