How many times can the same word be sung in a single jingle? ;^)

OK, Jeffro probably has the record for that… (Jeffro, Jeffro, Jeffro, ……….. )

But after having heard the demo for the new Spirit FM package, which features “sing along harmony hooks” (?!?!?)
clearly a serious (?) attempt has been made for the (dark stout) Book of Records at how many “woah”s can be sung on a single
ramp and how many “yeah”s can also similarly. (NOTE:- I might add NOT both words, just each on different cuts).

I decline to name the (UK) jingle company, but here’s the link…
      http://www.jinglenews.com/2015/07/21/sweet-coated-jingle-package-for-ukrds-spirit-fm/

I’m sure Len will be saddened – and I quote from JMW on another current topic “Where Have All the Jingles Gone”…
“was taking the creativity out of jingles” – certainly NOT the most “creative” lyrics – and before the “usual remarks”
are made about the “feelings” of the singers/musicians/writers/etc, I’m sure “its what the PD wanted”…)

I counted at least TWENTY “woah”s on one cut before I gave up – surely its not April 1st ???

(PS – the actual tracks under the (IMPO) mind-numbing vocals are actually quite good and funky though ! :^) )

I’m sure you could fit 2 Jeffro’s for every single Whoah or Yeah! But Jeff would probably turn them down like Spirit Of New England “Too Dancey, Not Urban enough” lol?

Could this package be resung for Urban formatted “WOAH” in Glennville, Georgia USA? ;-) It’s when one cut gets to the screechy high pitched “yeaaahhh” I imagine Len Groat throwing his headphones onto the floor shaking his head in desperation lol!

Or indeed WHOA in Cleveland, Ohio ( “Christian Rap and R&B” – the non-USA mind struggles with such a format concept….. :^) )

I do wonder though when (the company mentioned, and indeed others) will ever dare to get out of the rut of the
un-imaginative (IMPO) singing of the station name at the end of every cut in a tired-sounding fashion like it
was just bolted-on to the end of the ramp rather than as an integral part of the production?

Whats wrong with when station names were sung at the front, or the middle, or a frequency or slogan at the end to
“slide” into the next “piece of music”? Is the “psychology” of the world of programming now so inward-spiraling?

If many Personal Cuts sound more “imaginative” because the punters choose to use a bit of creativity when coming
up with a lyric, are the “professional radio people” now so lost for any kind of originality instead of “following
the herd” with “sonic logo at front, woah/yeah thump-clap ramp, walk up to mic stick chin up then dirge station name”?

What would the “B&st&rd Brothers” do as a send-up of today’s identikit jingle products?

PS – I apologise for omitting a word from the description in my first post above – I inadvertently missed the
“extended” from the “sing along harmony hooks” …

The Sonic Logo in some of those jingles actually sounds out of tune or in the wrong key?

Sadly scan the New York FM band at the moment and count how many stations including big group ones are using jingles like that. Even some American oldies stations too!

The time to worry is when one of those types of jingles turns up on GEM AM! April Fools Day, Len wouldn’t dare – would he? :-/

Ok, maybe not a “record” for the most times the same word is sung in a single jingle but if you reference The JAM Song, Song, the jingle for WWWW has the word double-u sung four times.

Maybe they could be persuaded to sing a few Whoah Yeah custom cuts lol! ;-)

I don’t mind these :) the “woah woah” culture is how it is & whether I’m jingle geek or not I can’t help singing the woah’s :/

I’d imagine that the demo features all the woah’s & yeah’s for demonstration purposes but the cuts in use may be more tame … they work standalone but would be an a*se to talk over, personally I’d get put off my link as my head sung along to the ad-libs !!! If used as an woah-yeah standalone image cut these should work well :)

I do agree that the sonic logo is of kilter … not sure what’s going on there !!!

I always thought the “Whoah whoah, yeh yeah” was a late 90s, early 2000s thing. It seems dated to me. Wise Buddah, RW, etc, don’t really use it. If the track is well made and tuneful enough, which the above S2Blue tracks are, they don’t need all that!
